I am Dr. Fred L Nance Jr. I am a black man. On 11/6/24 I brought my package to the UPS located in South Holland Illinois for return to Amazon. My package consisted of 2 items, which were in separate boxes. My Amazon return receipt was for 2 items. The black male attendant told me I had to tape the 2 separate packages together. He said I could tape them together myself or I could buy a tape cartridge from them. I left the store because I was not going to buy tape cartridge from them to tape these items.
On 11/7/24 at approximately 10:00 AM, I returned to the UPS store located in South Holland Illinois with the 2 individual packages taped together. I told the black female attendant what happened on 11/6/24 and that when I took packages to a Crestwood Illinois store, a white female taped my packages and did request I buy tape from them. The black female attendant told me the South Holland Illinois UPS store was privately owned. I did not know the UPS stores were privately owned.
I asked to speak to a manager. I was told there was not a supervising manager on duty, and that I could call him. I told the black female attendant I did not have time for a phone call conversation.
I informed the black female attendant I was going to put my UPS experience on my social media platforms. The black female attendant began an extensive discussion with me about why was I going post this incident on social media. This black female attendant asked me what was my profession. I informed this black female attendant I had a PhD in Social Policy Analysis and I alert the public on issues of concern, and that I had a Violence Prevention program.
This female attendant continued her discussion stating this UPS store was not forcing me to buy tape from them. I reiterated to this black female attendant I did not say I was being forced to buy tape from this black owned business. I informed this black female attendant I was merely stating the difference between the 2 âprivatelyâ owned UPS stores.
I informed this black female attendant I address social issues every day. I gave this black female attendant my business cards and left the South...
Read moreLouis is a menace. 2nd generation postal worker dependent and I needed to mail two pieces of electronic equipment across a land border internationally... The other 99 times I dealt with this crusty UPS depot was for Amazon returns, where Louis' crew would nickel and dime the customer for additional packaging for "free to the customer" returns. As far as the international packages, Mr.L called in to say he was the owner, wasn't sure if UPS ships to Canada/Mexico and he had to call corporate for a confirmation number to cover whichever derriere wasn't talking to me and one of the only not-turn-over-milled faces there seemed more confidant in ringing up the package than the "owner" Told me I had to pay $20 to rebox them, which then cut my insurance claim for UPS of course losing my packages in half since reboxing meant they were now in one lost package with a claim limit of $100. Constant turn over, only location is the asset for this "business" and Louis is a menace even pretending to work "logistics" It's not like UPS has a franchisee standard of conduct this far...
Read moreIf I could only give zero stars I would. Customer beware. This is a privately owned store. The owners name is Louis.... Louis, has instructed the workers to refuse ALL packages that are not addressed to ppl with mailboxes at his Store. If your package was lost or you went up there because you used this location as a pickup point for your packages CHANGE it immediately. This store should not be called UPS. Should be called "Louis Shipping" instead. Louis doesn't make money for delivered packages to his store.. SO once he or his employees look up the name of the person the delivery is for and it shows you're not an active mailbox holder at his location he has no obligation to hold your package. It's about money for Louis. He doesn't care about you or your package. They'll give you a small piece of paper and tell you to call the number on the paper because it wasn't delivered, even though the tracking on your email from UPS says it was. The excuse is, we're only able to take a certain amount of packages a day since we're a small store. Instead of the truth. I...
