Lorraine H. South Holland, IL 5/22/2021 I have been going to this restaurant for years. I always recommend when family is in from out of town but today I am highly disappointed. I called an order in for a Hearty Man Skillet. My husband picked it up (we live on the same block as the restaurant so it took him no time to get the food to me), we started to eat and noticed a strand of curly light colored hair mixed in the eggs. My husband took the food back and was told by a manager on duty that that was my hair and he could not receive a refund. I have BLACK hair so for her to tell him that is my hair and she does not know me or how I look is absurd. She offered to recook the food but at this point we are disgusted and just want our money back. After he came home without the refund, I called to speak to the same manager. I informed her this was not my hair and she proceeded to tell me no one in their kitchen has that hair type. I also informed her that no one in my home has that hair type and if we did it wouldn't be MIXED in the eggs. I asked for a refund she said no. I asked to speak to someone in a higher position she also refused that. I even had to tell her at one point not to yell at me. I am glad today was only a $20 order versus the $80-$100 I usually spend. Very disappointed and will no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone. I know it really doesn't matter to them (because of how we were treated today) but they have lost a long time customer.
I couldn't figure out how to reply to your message but thanks so much for responding. She did not give me her name. A young lady answered the phone, I told her the issue she put me on hold and a woman came back to the phone. She said hello, and I proceeded to tell her the issue. When I asked to speak to someone higher she said she was the manager and no one else was there. My husband described her as a short woman with blond hair. This was on Saturday about 12:30 or 1:00 pm...
Read moreIâd returned to town to visit and decided to come here for a late meal. There were no customers waiting and my sister requested a booth. We were told that there werenât any booths available and and I we seated at a table. I had stepped away for a minute and upon my return my sister told me that she had requested a booth but it needed to be cleaned. The booth near us was cleaned and my sister informed the waitress and we moved over to the the booth. Suddenly a lady comes over with a couple , sits them at a table, and then said to my sister in a horribly load tone , âlady I told you to wait and I would seat youâ. My sister attempted to inform her that she had notified the waitress of their conversation and the lady acted as if she was deaf and rudely walked away. I was in disbelief. Really, this is the way you treat a customer. My sister and I could do nothing initially but stare at each other in dhock. I felt so uncomfortable and no longer had a desire to eat. I wouldnât have enjoyed anything that was served or felt right patronizing this kind business. My sister and I made a quick decision to leave but not without speaking with the the rude white female with the dark hair. I believe the lady was the hostess and my sister informed her that we were leaving and that she had no right to speak to her in such a way. She also informed her of the conversation with the waitress regarding switching to a booth. I heard the lady reply that she was sorry and my sister responded, âand you should beâ. Weâve all got to learn to be little more kinder and be careful the way we talk to people. Unnecessary...
Read moreFirst off, I'll preface with I patronized this establishment on Father's Day in the afternoon. That being said, there was an understandable crowd and a bit of a wait time. However, the wait time applied for those who were in smaller groups, which were seated in the restaurant side. Larger groups were easily accommodated in the adjoining banquet/private event space they opened up, which was where my party was seated.
Service was friendly, quick and to the point. The environment was loud, again based on the larger parties in the space we were in.
Food wise, the food was just ok for me. There was a Father's Day menu, which my dad shared was a pared down version menu as they usually have a wide variety of offerings. A special menu makes sense in light of the foot traffic and crowd management. I had the special shrimp and grits, which were good but not a traditional profile (no gravy/roux but instead doused in hot sauce- I thought that would be a drizzle but it was described as such).
Get there earlier if you want to reduce wait time, especially on weekends. Parking is available but the lot fills quickly. There is other lot on the other side of the building and limited parking behind it. You can also park on the street in the neighborhood.
Would go back again to see the full menu offering, and earlier to beat some of the...
