I found this place during a Google search of breakfast spots in the South Holland area last month. We didn't visit that time because breakfast would have been over and we usually do breakfast. This time I suggested lunch instead and chose SoHo Sweets. While it wasn't as big as I for some reason thought, it was ....SUCH a nice atmosphere. We ate upstairs because I wanted to see that space since they do rent it out to guests. While it was not a big space, the scene was ....it reminded me of coffee house visits in my college town. Even the street it's located on...once you turn off the main route, it instantly gives a Old Town Main Street vibe. By the time it we finished our meal and went back for ice cream, it had cooled off and we opted to sit on the porch. There is also a patio area with what I think was a fire pit that would seat 6, maybe 8 people around it. I didn't actually count the chairs. As we sat on the porch for a while talking, we both talked about how it really doesn't have an urban/city feel to it. Sometimes, that's exactly what you need. Even on the porch, it was still quiet. Even only heard a siren once!
As for the food, based on the descriptions and the photos of some of their meals, I felt like we'd be getting fresh food that would also taste fresh. I chose the Avocado Bacon Gouda Chicken on Brioche sandwich which comes with a small spring greens and tomato salad and an order of crinkle cut sweet potato fries w/ chipotlemayo. Y'ALL.....those fries were A-mazing and I was apprehensive about the idea of shredded chicken instead of a whole breast fillet, but it works. My friend had the Grilled Ham & Cheese with chips and pickle slices. For dessert I had vanilla (because if you can't get vanilla right...what hope do the other flavors have right? hehe) and my friend got what the server said was "Superman" and vanilla. We didn't grab a drink other than water but I'm thinking the next visit I'll at least grab a cup of coffee. I might even buy a coffee mug.
Great atmosphere, Great food, Clean (for the most part...tables needed a wipe), most importantly though, Friendly and courteous service!!!
We will, definitely be back. I'm already planning to bring my family. My mom will really...
Read moreI feel so bad about having to give this poor review. This is the second time I have come to SoHo; the first time I went with a friend and we had a good experience although we had a long wait time, but I originally thought it was because we dined in.
Today I stopped by, and ordered for take out the turkey avocado croissant sandwich. I sat down near the front counter, so I was seen waiting. I kept myself busy because I only had three errands to run today, so I wasn’t in a real rush. However, after 32 minutes exactly, I talked to the man that took my order, and he told me that they forgot about my order and said that it would take three minutes for it to come out. I then received my order, but the bacon was burnt, I barely had any turkey, and the sauce was placed on the sandwich and on the side, when I ordered it only on the side so I could take it home.
I came back inside to ask for a refund and the lady agreed that I should be refunded. It was a bit confusing for her, so I said “If you can remake it, you don’t have to give me the refund”
She said that the bacon will still be the same because they cook it all in the morning and use that same batch throughout the shift. This experience has truly left a bad taste in my mouth, and I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back.
Note: The decor and atmosphere is...
Read moreJust visited this charming creamery and coffee shop in South Holland, and the atmosphere was very cool! (see what I did there?!) Outside the shop, there were benches, games, and even a grass wall perfect for photo ops if that's your thing. Now, let's step inside...
Upon entering, I noticed that the cashier didn't greet me, and she seemed a bit irritated by my presence or something. Nevertheless, my son and I placed our order. I opted for a small iced latte with vanilla oat milk, while my son indulged in some ice cream. Despite the initial encounter, my latte was delicious, and the young man who made it did a fantastic job. He was very pleasant as he handed it over to me.
Overall, this place is stunning both inside and out, and I plan on returning. It's unfortunate that I wasn't greeted and served with warmth this time, but I'm hopeful for a warmer experience during...
