This was maybe one of the worst experiences in retail I've ever had. The one-star review is specifically because of an employee named Magdalena.
I came in today to exchange some items I had bought for my wife's birthday. Because I lost the receipt, I had to take 60% in credit of the sales price. No problem-- it's not their fault I lost the receipt, it's mine.
But what was so glaringly one-star worthy was how painful the entire exchange was because of Magdalena's demeanor. From the sighing, to the glaring-- not only was she not friendly, she was rude! Consider saying please or thank you if you work in retail. Or if you're that unhappy working there: quit!
I can't believe this is a Christian-owned business. It's quite baffling!
Furthermore, they told me they couldn't take an item back because they didn't sell it anymore (meaning: it wasn't populating on their iPad). Instead of doing some due diligence or giving a consumer the benefit of the doubt, they'd made their decision: we're not taking this back! I literally had to walk all the way to the back of the store and grab the item which they still sell (pic attached) in order for them to even consider they were wrong. Oops! No "sorry about that", no "oh you're right, our fault!" Just a dull look on her face obviously disgruntled because I'm making her do "extra work."
Really-- either be happy at your job OR just quit. Don't suffer others because of your lack of happiness. I had $5 left on my gift card which I gave to the customer behind me because I'm never coming back here again, I'll go out my way to go to Michael's.
Awful job,...
Read moreGreat selection of decor items, I had no idea they had so many nice things! I had to stop my self from reaching for more goods and get out of there. Most of the furniture was of less than good quality and flimsy. One of the items I got was the last piece and a new, still in training cashier accidentally chipped it when he was wrapping it and it took so long for everything to be checked out. I felt sorry for him because he seemed very nervous. My disappointment came from the supervisor at the time (I forgot her name, unfortunately) who asked me to get in line again, after already spending a considerable amount of time checking out, and wait to get my refund for that item that got chipped. She was in the front the whole time and saw how long I had been standing there. She was so nonchalant and her apology sounded insincere. I think she could have done the refund herself on a register but she didn’t seem to care at all, in fact, one other employee who seemed to work under her was more caring than she was. It’s definitely a great skill to stay calm under pressure but it’s also good to show concern and recognize the urgency in...
Read moreWell I usually love this store but today I had a horrible experience with management. I went for the Black Friday sales and once we got to the register the prices weren’t mathing. I knew what I spent and when I said something to the cashier I was told well those are the prices nothing to let’s check them and so I said nope I’m nope paying that and went to leave when a rude manager called me a smart ass and was very derogatory towards me for not purchasing said items. Makes me wonder if the cashier and her had some kind of arrangement to charge people more and take the overages. But calling your customers smart asses because I knew what I was spending is uncalled for. So I went to the store on 92nd and Sheridan and picked out the same items plus a few extra things and it rang up almost $20 less. Point proven. When I told the cashier management overheard it and was appalled by the treatment I had received. Makes me wonder if this is a problem he has heard before because of the reaction I got. So if you shop the Thornton store watch what you spend because obviously honesty and decent treatment of customers isn’t...
