I go to Kohl’s in Toms River once in a while. I went yesterday and it was such a horrible and frustrating experience that I left the store fuming. Not with the girl at the register, she was doing her job but with the store manager “Kevin” who refused to give me his last name.
Customer service is non existent from the store manager, Kevin - I bought an Adidas sweatshirt that was in a clearance rack clearly marked ADDITIONAL 20% off clearance. It was not there by mistake. The entire rack with adidas was on clearance.
It turns out that the same sweatshirt had 2 different prices one $11.25 the other one $33 something. I grabbed both. I needed the bigger size that was marked higher and told the cashier that’s what I wanted but at the lower price. She said I could have the size I didn’t need with the lower price. I said, that’s not good, I need the larger size. She calls the manager. ”Kevin” says absolutely not! Why not? Because that’s not the one marked $11.25 I tried to argue but I was not feeling great, just wanted to leave. So I said, fine I’ll buy the smaller size (gift it to someone) and went ahead with the sale even though I felt it was unfair. But wait, it had an additional 20% off. That’s when Kevin turned from unpleasant to nasty. He would not honor the 20% because Adidas never had a 20% off…. Hmmmm. They were all 20% off. He tried to show me by ringing the $33 dollar one but it kept coming up at $25.50. Isn’t that a bit more than 20% off!!?? I thought the price was $33 period.
I bought the $11.25 wrong size sweatshirt. I had a headache and wanted out of the store. It’s not the $2 I should have saved that’s the problem. It was the attitude, the total disregard to what was in front of my face and his. The fact that he would not acknowledge that he was wrong. The nastiness like I was a crazy woman. He kept insisting that Adidas never EVER had any additional discounts, which was obviously not true.
I didn’t get nasty or yelled even though I wanted to. I don’t know, I’m still furious at the manager. I will never ever return to Kohl’s. I know they don’t care or even miss my business but I wanted to get...
Read moreThis was only the second experience I had at this particular Kohl's store since I do not live in the area and the sales personnel did not disappoint. All were courteous, friendly, polite and knowledgeable. I was returning a dress from another store and when I asked the woman at Customer Service if they had the same dress in a different size in the Toms River store, she scanned the ticket and told me that there were three in the store and exactly where to find them! Unfortunately, I put my phone down while looking through a rack and walked away without my phone. When I realized what I had done, I found a sales associate in the front of the store who immediately called my cell to see if we could hear it. When that failed, another sales associate in the men's department picked up his radio and called over to Customer Service to see if anyone had turned in a phone. I was very happy to find out that YES, the phone was turned in by a customer and that it was safe and sound at customer service! I was thrilled! All of the sales associates I encountered that day were so helpful and very well "trained" to deal with the public! All of them knew their jobs and delivered excellent customer service all around! The store was spotless and very neat and tidy as well! Kudos to the Toms River Kohl's! You have wonderful employees...
Read moreNot sure what’s going on but the store has consolidated and remodeled product areas. The prices of clothing is ridiculous. A pair of mens Haggar pants $60 and if you buy another pair half off $30. So two pairs for $90, when the cost to manufacture a pair is approximately $9. Now wholesale cost is $18 and retail cost varies. Average is about $40 retail, a $22 dollar gross profit per pair. Now Kohls sells a pair for $60, that is a 230% markup! So the buy one get one 50% off is a scam. On top of this you get Kohl’s Cash. Where do you think the Kohl’s Cash comes from, your pocket not theirs. So every $50 you spend you earn $10. Now let’s say a purchase was made for a pair of Haggar Mens Pants. Do the math with me. $180 is the total. Now you get back $20 in Kohls cash. So because you overpaid for the pants purchase that $20 is really your money given to you as an incentive to come back and spend more than $20. So $180 purchase less $20 Kohls Cash = $160 So let’s say the four pairs of pants would cost you $40 per pair at JCP that’s $160. So you can see where that $20 is coming from. And if your just purchased one pair from Kohl’s you are worse off. Brilliant marketing program but now it...
