Background: 11 years ago my then-engagement ring was from Jared and so I was familiar with their cleaning and servicing of jewelry. Fast-forward to now; new situation, new ring (which was purchased online from a reputable jewler in NYC and included diamond certificate paperwork). ANYWAY, in Feb. of this year (2023), I walked into Jared to get my ring cleaned (fully prepared to pay), and to take a look at some of their anklets. I walk in, and this saleswoman comes out of the back and begins to act like your stereotypical corporate chain jewelry store saleswoman with a quota agenda. Anywho, she asks me what I'm interested in, I tell her I'd like my ring cleaned. She asked me if it was due for [their] servicing, and I proceeded to tell her it was not purchased there, but was bought online and I'd please like it cleaned. Her fake smile dropped real quick and the judgement just rolled on in. She asked me to take the ring off, and while she was holding it, began to ask various questions including "where did he buy it from? What type of stone is it?" I told her where it was from and that it's a diamond. She gave me an extremely judgemental look like 'yeah right' and asked if I was "sure." She took the ring to a man behind another counter and the two of them were going back and forth loud enough for me to hear, so I'm sure the other customers in the store could as well. I saw the man hold it and glance with that one eyed magnifying glass looking tool. They kept chatting and looking back at me standing there, wondering if they'll clean my ring or not. The woman then comes back to me and says "I'm sorry, honey, but he didn't get you a diamond" and therefore, since they believe it is not a diamond, they would and could not put it in their diamond cleaner. How embarrassing that this is happening in front of other customers. I tell her again it was bought reputably and they it had certification paperwork, and that another local jeweler had inspected and confirmed was real. She explained there is no way its real because of a, b,& c visual reasons and directly told me whoever gave me the ring lied to me. She handed me back the ring and I stood there pleading my case bc I really just wanted the damn thing cleaned, but now I was offended. I explained why that can't be right, again. She went back and pulled out this diamond tester tool and tapped the stone, and after the little lights bopping all over the place, it landed on sapphire. She says he must have gotten me a white sapphire and said "sorry." I walked out of there both embarrassed and mad and just cried in my car in the parking lot. I told my fiance what she said and that Jared wouldn't clean my ring, and that really brought up some unpleasant feelings. Aside from already having purchased it from a jewelr, having diamond certification paperwork, and my man having another local jewelr inspect it and confirm it was a real diamond prior to even giving it to me, we went to yet another local jewler to have them inspect it. They had their actual gemologist (not just a rude saleswoman) inspect it and confirm YET AGAIN, it is indeed a real diamond. And not only that, but they cleaned it for free. We explained what Jared had said about it being a sapphire, and not only did they say no way, but they said that tool Jared used is completely unable to be calibrated and is obsolete. Jared not only told me my Dimond ring was fake and my man lied to me, but judged me, embarrassed me, and made me cry. I cannot believe you allow people to be so incorrect, but also judgemental and rude! And I'd like to point out my tears were of frustration and embarrassment in front of other people. I in NO way believed even for a second this lady was right! Jared is a money-hungry...
Read moreUpdate review: I never imagined I’d be writing a review like this about something as meaningful as my engagement ring. I purchased my ring from Jared Jewelers expecting quality, craftsmanship, and something that would last a lifetime. Unfortunately, what I received was the opposite.
Within a short time of wearing it, the band began bending — not once, but multiple times. I’ve been incredibly careful with it, but the ring simply isn’t holding up to everyday wear. I’ve had to take it in for multiple repairs, and each time I leave wondering when it will happen again. Marcy the manager of this location told me “ this engagement ring was never meant to be worn everyday” which seems an absurd statement for an engagement ring which is meant to be worn daily. This is supposed to be a symbol of love and commitment, but instead, it’s become a constant source of stress and disappointment.
What’s worse is that the experience has genuinely tainted what should be a joyful, memorable chapter in my life. Instead of admiring my ring with pride, I find myself worrying about its durability. Jared promotes itself as “a keeper of your most precious moments,” but how can that be true if the quality of their jewelry can’t even withstand basic wear?
I expected so much more from a company with Jared’s reputation. This isn’t just about metal and stones—it’s about trust, memories, and the emotional significance attached to a once-in-a-lifetime purchase. I regret not going elsewhere.
I hope Jared starts living up to the standard their name suggests, because right now, it feels like they’ve forgotten what they’re supposed to be keeping.
You go to places like Jared under the impression you are paying for quality lasting jewelry. My fiance bought my engagement ring from Jared and in only a few months the setting of diamond began to move side to side and bend back and forth w v little pressure applied. I’m very careful with my jewelry. After the same thing happening again and again taking countless trips within the first year to Jared to utilize my warranty and get it fixed a worker there told me that all it needs is to be bent back in place took my ring and bent it back straight and said that’s all they’ll do too.
So a short period of time goes by I look down and my entire setting on my ring with my diamond has broken off as the engagement band they sold me had such incredibly weak points on either side of the setting. I bring my ring into Jared in three pieces now and I’m told yes they can fix it but again this will just happen again and offer to upgrade my ring to a stronger setting for a small fee of $1400. I’m very disappointed at the quality of the jewelry Iv purchased and for the amount my fiancé paid for this ring it should not be so incredibly flimsy. I believed Jared held themselves to higher standards and quite frankly shouldn’t be selling a ring they can’t count on to not “just break again” as the workers at...
Read moreI haven’t had much experience with jewelers until recently. I bought my fiancés engagement ring through a custom ring designer and purchased a warranty to cover pretty much anything. When a couple of the prongs on her ring bent, I submitted a claim and the warranty company told me to go to any jeweler for a repair.
We walked into Jered Jewelers in consumer square on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Amherst, NY. We were greeted by one of the top three customer service people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting - Neil Gablenz.
He greeted us and made us feel right at home, during what was a stressful time - having brought a very important piece of jewelry in to be repaired. He assured us that we were in good hands, and he was absolutely right.
We left the ring and were told it would be ready in about a week. Not even five days later, Neil called and told us it was ready to be picked up.
We came back to pick up the ring, and met with Neil again. Still charming, still friendly, so it wasn’t just a one off day that we met him and were absolutely pleased with his customer service oriented mentality. He is the real deal.
The repair was perfect. We were so happy with it that we decided to pick out our wedding bands right there in the store. Neil spent a good hour with us as we looked over what felt like every ring in the store. We decided on exactly what we wanted and placed our order.
These were being made to order so we were told they’d be ready on August 6. We received a call from Neil on August 3 that they were ready (three days early) so we went in to get them. The rings were as beautiful as we’d hoped and Neil was right there with us as we tried them on - and he shared in our excitement.
Great job all around from customer service to quality of the jewelry itself. We are fans of Jered and it’s largely due to Neil as the face of your company that we first met, enjoyed seeing again, and look forward to seeing when we come back for future jewelry needs!
I know this is supposed to be a review about Jered Jewelers, and I may have made it a bit of a review about Neil, but as long as he works there - the two go hand in hand to me.
100/10 highly recommend! ...
