I've driven by this gem of a long-standing local institution hundreds of times on my countless trips to Buffalo spanning the previous 20 years, the entire time entirely unaware of the wonders this little spot was churning out. Just thinking about all the countless times I settled for Arby's and other big box chain spots while making that drive down the boulevard... it kills me! But now I know. This joint came highly recommended by several locals, as a sort of "IYKYK" spot (albeit one with countless multi-decade regulars), and I couldn't be more grateful to finally know for myself. This place is the real deal, no questions. I went for two of their mini hot subs; a Stinger and the fried bologna. The Stinger is a LOT, but darn if that wasn't the very best sub I've ever had. The steak was perfectly cooked, so tender- basically melted in your mouth. Never would've thought to pair steak and chicken tenders on a sub, but alas- it works flawlessly. The chicken fingers were absolutely perfect- maybe best I've had. The fried bologna sub was a warm hug, just perfect with the melted cheese on top, some caramelized onions. I'm drooling. The fries were something extra special as well, even if I wished they were a bit heavier on salt- a perfect cook; extra crispy on the outside, almost like a mash inside. I came away disgustingly stuffed, but with zero regrets (despite having consumed probably 3,000 calories?). Cannot wait to hit up Mayback's on all future Buffalo visits, and to introduce some friends as well. Absolutely loved the food and vibe of...
Read moreSome restaurants manage to create an environment that immediately puts you at ease, and this one nailed it. From the moment we walked in, there was a laid-back comfort that felt intentional. The space wasn’t overcrowded, the lighting was warm, and the overall vibe was easygoing without sacrificing style. The staff was friendly and casually professional. Our server didn’t just drop off menus and disappear—they gave us a great breakdown of the menu, highlighted a few house favorites, and gave honest opinions, which I always appreciate. Food-wise, the experience was memorable. Each course was flavorful and thoughtfully plated. There’s clearly an emphasis on using fresh, quality ingredients, and you could taste that in every bite. The dishes didn’t rely on heavy seasoning or gimmicks—they were just solid, well-balanced meals. Dessert was also a highlight—not overly sweet, which is rare. The wine selection complemented the meal nicely, and the server even offered some helpful pairing suggestions. This is the kind of restaurant I’d recommend for both a casual dinner with friends or a low-key special occasion. It’s not overhyped, not overcrowded—just good food, good people, and good energy. That combination’s...
Read moreGot welcomed told to take our time since we never ordered here. So we took our time no one in line behind us for the 5 minutes we stood off to the side. Didn't even get to try the food when young kid with long hair and piercings decided to start tapping the pen impatiently then slams his hand on the note pad with he pen and huffs and walks away to the back leaving an older lady to take his spot. She smiled at him and then someone walked in so we hurriedly put an order in and they seemed to not care. Decided canceling the order in all weird vibes people. Don't greet people to take their time then get annoyed. Ruined what we thought would be a...
