I was in this store today and was prepared to spend about $70.00 on a variety of cards. The selection of cards was horrible. I asked where I could get a Mothers' Day Card for my daughter-in-law and the clerk told me to check where the Mothers' Day Cards are - I continued to look at her and she finally moved to where the cards were and said here - I pointed out to her that there weren't any on the shelf. To make a long story short - she could have cared less about giving me good customer service. I asked why there was a shortage of cards and she shrugged her shoulders at me. The worse customer service I have had from anyone in years. I took my cart to the cash and told the two clerks behind cash that I would not be making a purchase and they could put the cards away themselves - it would give them something to do. I asked the other clerk to speak to the store manager and he informed me that the manager was on a break. Okay I thought but still I was not impressed. I did ask if the store was closing like the other Hallmark stores and again I got a shrugged shoulder response. Will never to back in this store again. I asked for the phone number of the store and they didn't know but did find it and said it out loud - I asked for one of them to take the time to write it out which they did - I will be calling this store next week. With the poor customer service I got - it is no wonder that they are...
Read moreI went in to buy some earbuds and ended up looking at the collection and was on the phone with a friend. I was the only person of color in the store, if anyone wants to know what I was wearing; it was a white dress (virtually no place to hide anything in) and a Kate Spade cross body. I didn't look like a troublemaker . I'm also petite and skinny. I was followed around by an old female employee as I looked through the store scowling at me every time I looked at her. She didn't say hi or offer to help. She did help white customers who came in looking and seemed very pleasant towards them. Sometime as I was walking around, I talked a little loudly in surprise to something my friend said on the phone (not screaming or anything) and she turned around and said something like don't make noise. First of all this is a store... not a library. I'm not speaking to you anyway and the only time you talk to me is to snap at me. Her tone was so hostile and belittling I couldn't believe this was happening to me. I put the earbuds down on the table next to me and immediately walked out of the store. My mom has so much stuff from hallmark that she passed down to me that it was just devastating to be treated like that at such a beloved store of my childhood. I was treated much better at the dollar store...
Read moreI purchased a Christmas gift online for in-store pickup. I got an email that my item was ready to be picked up and I headed to the store which had a sign on the door that said something like “Buy online, skip the line.” I looked around at some ornaments for a minute with my husband and then decided to get in line because there were several people checking out and we were short on time. A woman working there was stocking shelves but then came to a register and told a man she would help him at another register because the sole checker at the time was starting to get a line. She never said hello or anything welcoming to us but did tell us we were standing in the wrong line. Then she went back to stocking shelves and we waited in the line for the one checker left. My husband and I have both worked retail and we were disappointed with the lack of customer service. Also, once I finally got to the checker and showed her my email to pick up my online order, she had to locate my name in a paper binder (which took several minutes) and have me sign next to it. Not automated or convenient, as opposed to pickup from a store like Kohl’s which does offer Keepsake ornaments and things like that. I’ll be shopping...
