I enjoy the selection of books, toys & holiday items. I do not enjoy the staff, except one lovely middle-aged woman who waited on me last visit. Two visits ago, I purchased over $150, as I did 3 other visits to this location. However, staff "service" was pathetic! They visited (about work to be accomplished that week) quite loudly from behind the counter; no one is EVER helping on the floor! Twice I've required staff assistance & was told to reach for the highly placed item myself, despite the fact that I'd stated I needed help with it! The other unfortunate shopping trip I had stacked, per 'policy' heavier & bulkier items (books & a toddler, play area safety pen) on the side shelf near the last register. I was unable to check out at that register due to the stores persistent clutter at the registers & was loaded right up when I finally reached the 3rd register down (having waited with all my heavy load for 10 minutes already, due to long lines.) I told the cashier about my items at the further end of the counters, assuming she'd go grab them for me on her side, where there weren't lines to try to push thru) ... well, you know what they say about "assuming," right?!? Yeah. She just stared, then glared at me when I didn't move to do it & again said my arms & back were killing me, couldn't she PLEASE help me & grab them for me... NOTHING! After a VERY uncomfortable minute, I just fought back thru each line TWO TRIPS due to the large number of items (MINIMAL SPACE in the lane ways in this store are SURELY a fire hazard?!?) &, by necessity, returned to that register for her to complete my sale. The surrounding customers honestly appeared equally mortified, having clearly witnessed her & my exchanges since we were all shoved tightly into the small register area.) I will say again that although the checkout area was equally hazardous my last visit, the cashier I had was splendidly helpful, understanding & engaging. She grabbed my similarly stacked items again at the 1st register side area (those of us who buy books 1st are destined to use this side shelf!) without hesitation! She even sold me an extra item at the counter! I will continue returning as I love the stores concept, choices & value. I truly wish they'd rent or purchase a much larger shopping area! I've been told there are vast amounts of items stored away, too, which boggles my mind as to why the owners wouldn't wish to strike sales while the iron is scorching hot, as they say! Please train your staff on the value & necessity of customer SERVICE. Please get into a larger, comfortable shopping space. Please (this is every visit I've had) make staff training & planning times BEFORE the store opens, ONLY WITH STAFF PRESENT. Then they'd not be ignoring shoppers to discuss staff assignments behind the counter. It's...
Read morei would give this place 0 stars if i could. i came on a monday and the staff was exceptional and beyond helpful, considering it was our first time selling items to them. the girls on the monday explained everything in detail about the process and what they take and were so sweet about all our questions and gave us a cash price that was worth it for all our little items. but then i went back literally 2 days later with the info i was given and the other staff working there including the store manager (short black hair) had such a shitty attitude and werenât helpful at all and the cash total they offered us was an absolute joke, there was a staff member, a girl with short blond hair (bob cut) that slammed money on the table versus counting it back and handing it to us, they also seemed like they were rushing to get us to leave which felt very rude and disrespectful since we spent a lot of time coming there and bringing a lot of bigger items that we had to put together outside to see if they would take or not. we ended up taking everything apart and bringing right back home. the pricing they offered from the items they received from us was so bad, it was just a major rip off. iâve been in customer service for 8 years now and the girls working here need to be retrained on how to speak to customers and how to go about things. such a horrible experience the second time around and absolute waste of time. i would NOT recommend going here unless you are only meeting with the staff that was actually very helpful. calling ahead helps but according to the store manager, everything i was told over the phone was completely wrong information. lots of miscommunication in this place. not reliable to bring clothes to sell. I would just not recommend going here at all actually, there is a donation organization called âThings of my Very Ownâ in schenectady ny that are more than happy to take old items and donate it to kids in need at no cost. please do not bring items and clothes to once upon a child, they will just waste your time entirely. hope the store manager reads this review and understands that she is not a good manager for how she handled her staff, customers, and the store the day i came in. i hope her position gets replaced with someone a lot better and kinder. thank...
Read moreI would give zero stars if I could. I am a frequent seller/ shopper of this store. I usually come in with bags upon bags to sell usually walking out with little to nothing as I check out the clothes thoroughly. After going in there just recently and being told that they werenât going to buy my newborn- 9 months clothes Iâm not really sure if I wanna give any business to them. While waiting for my stuff to process which didnât take long because they gave 90% of it back I wandered the store looking at their inventory which to me was awful. I looked at a pair of shoes that you could visibly see a foot print on the bottom (soft soled baby shoes.) After being absolutely grossed out that that was bought by the store I traveled to the size clothes I was looking to purchase. After barely finding anything because there was zero organization I found a few things I had liked which I ultimately put back because even being second hand were not up to my standards to buy for $30. When I received my stuff back I was given a whopping $75 for 3 full to the brim bags. After going threw my stuff at home they hadnât taken any of my clothing some of it brand new. It states on the website Facebook and instagram that âwe buy clothes preemie to 20â which is a lie because the employees didnât purchase like any of the clothes. If your not looking to take in clothes maybe advertise that on your Facebook not wait for the customer to drive an hour then tell them when they walk thru the door ultimately wasting my time. I do believe they need to be more strict with what they bring in because some of the stuff I pulled out was horrendous looking as far as the state of the item. I definitely wonât be doing business...
