My husband and I had a delightful dining experience at this restaurant (Karavalli’s sister) that left us craving for more. From the moment we entered, we were greeted with warm hospitality and excellent service. The waiting time was minimal, and we were shown to a cozy table where we felt instantly comfortable.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed. We started off with a glass of white wine, a perfect complement to the chicken pepper fry (entrée that was graciously modified into an appetizer), and it transported me back to the flavors of Kerala, my husband's home, with its aromatic blend of coriander, black pepper, and fried curry leaves. The chicken was incredibly juicy, and the flavors were spot on.
Moving on to the main course, we ordered a variety of dishes to explore the diverse flavors of Kerala. The sambar, a lentil and vegetable stew, exceeded our expectations with its authentic taste and perfect consistency for mixing with rice. The avial, a mixed vegetable dish cooked in coconut gravy, was a pleasant surprise: who knew steamed veggies could be so delectable! But the highlight of the meal was the prawn moilee, a creamy coconut-based curry with succulent prawns that left us craving for more. The flavors were rich and complex, with a hint of smokiness, and it paired beautifully with the accompanying aromatic rice and butter garlic naan. The quantity was generous, and we had enough leftovers for another meal, which was a delightful bonus.
The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely, and the staff was attentive and caring throughout our dining experience. They checked in on us regularly and made sure we were enjoying our meal to the fullest. We were impressed with the quality and authenticity of the food, which should cater to both Indian and American palates alike.
In fact, we enjoyed our dining experience so much that we decided to visit the restaurant again the next day. This time, we indulged in the goat chettinadu, kundapur chicken, and another round of the delicious chicken pepper fry. The food was consistently excellent, and we couldn't get enough of the flavors that transported us to the culinary paradise of South India.
We were also impressed with the caring and amazing staff, who made our dining experience truly memorable. The restaurant's attention to detail, from the flavors of the food to the ambiance and service, was commendable. We wish we lived closer to this gem of a restaurant so that we could frequent it more often.
In conclusion, we highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates authentic South Indian cuisine and excellent service. The flavors, the ambiance, and the attentive staff make it a standout dining experience. Whether you are a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. We will definitely be back, and we urge others to give it a try and support this gem of a restaurant.
So, if you're in the mood for a culinary journey to South India, with flavors that will transport you to another world, make sure to visit this restaurant. Your taste buds will thank you, and you'll leave with a smile on your face, dreaming of...

We love trying something new and supporting small businesses! Upon arrival to Spice We were greeted by one of the workers and he sat us at a smaller table. A 2 top both her and I laughed because when we eat Indian we order a few different options to mix and match and to really try different flavors. The place is very clean and had a great atmosphere. Several staff members would come over throughout the meal to see if everything was okay. All the staff was amazing and polite. Our main server took our order and I am sure he was a little shocked with the size of our order. But like I said we like to mix and match and try new things. To start they give you a delicate cracker with 2 sauces. The cracker is a 24 hour process and the fermentation of the chickpeas is amazing.
Upon the food arriving the server asked if we would.enjoy a bigger table as the food is large. We ended up ordering Chicken Tikka Tandoori (I call this the Indian fajita) as it comes out on a sizzling platter with the most tender and flavorful chicken breast over pepper and onions. It was accompanied with a spicy sauce that complimented the flavors of the chicken. The next item was Chicken Korma which is tender chunks of chicken in cashew cream sauce. This is a flavor explosion perfectly seasoned and creamy. The Rosemary Naan had a nice crispy bottom with a pillowy and fluffy top with rosemary spread throughout the dough Palaak Paneer was our next choice. This is a creamy garam masala and ginger based dish. The flavors all complimented each other and is very nice over the fluffy basmati rice. We then ordered two cauliflower dishes. The first was Chili Gobi which is flavored like a general tsos but with more kick and not as sweet. This is an amazing dish! The second was Aloo Gobi crispy fresh cauliflower, soft potatoes, tomatoes cumin and ginger. The flavors again extremely different and tasted amazing!!! We have been to many Indian restaurants in the area and Shalimar and Karavali are our usual goto's. This by far had the best combination of amazing service, amazing staff, awesome food.
They then gave us a small tour of the buffet area and the array of seasonings that they use in the dishes.
They asked us to come back and try the buffet as that would have many other options to try as well. We obliged as that is a great option as well. But if you like plates brought to you I suggest going for dinner. Great portions with unlimited rice. We give...
Read moreDinner at Spice Malabar was an exquisite culinary experience. As we were about to enter one of the staff opened the outer door welcomed us inside, and showed us to our table. The aroma in the restaurant was wonderful. After we were seated, we were given a plate of Papadam and an onion chutney along with another sauce. These were a flavorful and welcome treat. We ordered two starters, the Malabar house salad, it came with two separate dressings, a yogurt and a vinaigrette. The salad had fresh crisp vegetables. The other starter was the Mulligatawny soup, it was perfectly spiced, meaning no one spice took over what you were tasting in each spoonful. We also ordered a side of Garlic Naan. Our entrees were Chicken Tikka Saag and Chicken Ammwala. Both were also wonderfully flavored. The chicken in each dish was very tender, the sauces with each again were spiced wonderfully. The portions were large enough that we brought enough home for lunch tomorrow. In my opinion the quality and portion size were very good and the price was very reasonable. They also have a weekday and weekend lunch buffet. We asked the price and felt it was very reasonable. We absolutely will recommend this to family and friends and anyone who asks. Speaking of family, we saw several families enjoying their meals. There are clearly listed menu items that are Vegan and a separate listing that are Vegetarian. The menu also clearly states “Please inform us of any allergy/dietary restrictions. There are also notations on the menu regarding Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Nuts and if there is a “hot “spice in the dish that also is mentioned. There is plenty of parking, Spice Malabar is ADA compliant, to the point that there is a curb cut and an accessible parking spot in front of the door. Spice Malabar is located in a strip mall so there are plenty of available spots. bon appétit (Hopefully this is an accurate translation of bon appétit.) अपने भोजन का आनंद लें apane bhojan...
