I don't normally write reviews for national chains, but I feel that Michaels in Henrietta deserves one. This store is very clean, bright, well organized. Staff who works here are amazing. They're always friendly, and no request is an inconvenience. This location loses a star because the store music is way too loud - they need to turn it down, I'm there to buy craft supplies, it's not a nightclub.
Edit: still a great craft store and I always find tons of good stuff. Staff has been very helpful and friendly on my visits there. Will be returning a lot more in the future since I just bought a Cricut machine.
Update 5/24: Still a great craft store, and I wanted to add they now have 3 (maybe 4) self check outs, and 2 'regular' check outs. I felt bad for the guy behind the counter today because an older customer was ranting at him about having the self check outs. I made eye contact with him and mouthed 'OMG' and shrugged. He smiled and appreciated my gesture. I have a feeling that the employees of Michaels are on the not so pleasant receiving end of commentary about the new self check-outs. So...I'm updating my review, to give kudos to the hardworking associates at Michaels in Henrietta. They're all wonderful, have no control over corporate decisions, and...
Read moreMichaels is the greatest place to go for the latest trendy garbage and/or seasonal holiday decor. There is nothing inherently bad about this, but their retail presence is anemic and often they do not have incredibly basic things that one might expect to have at a craft store.
Here are 3 items I expected to find on various trips to Michaels, that I had to go elsewhere for:
1 spool of plain black thread Spray Adhesive (Mod Podge is not what I wanted and is literally everywhere!) 1 black zipper
Readers will have to decide for themselves if expecting these items to be in stock is unreasonable for a craft store.
I only dabble in arts and crafts, I hesitate to even call it a hobby at this point. Yet even at my incredibly basic level, Michaels has failed me on numerous occasions.
I don't really consider Michaels an arts and craft store for this reason. I think of it as a home decor store that has some crafting basics. I learned pretty quickly for a true variety and selection it is better to go to Joann Fabrics (which is awesome) or Hobby Lobby which has an OK selection but bad hours (among...
Read moreI am extremely disappointed with the attitude of the men staff at Michael's store today, May12,2023. I shop around 11am-11.15 a.m., and i bought $90 of items creator for my instacart customers. They were extremely unhelpful when I asked a simple question about whether they had more items because i needed many boxes I was looking for. Instead of trying to be helpful, the man I spoke to was rude and uncooperative, apparently believing that it was not his job to help me shop. This attitude of his was unacceptable and inexcusable, and it has left me feeling frustrated and dissatisfied with my experience at Michael's store at Jefferson Road in Henrietta . From what he said, he hated instacart shoper. Well, instacart shoper is helping customers because they have no car, or maybe they don't have time for a shop ,and they are busy taking care of small kids or elderly who are sick sometimes. If you guys can just be nice, if you don't want to help, say sorry I'm busy. I can't help now, that would be ok. Instead, you talk so much, yell and rude to...
