So I brought my car in to get the front driver side tire replaced. I was told my the manager (Avila) that the rear passenger side also needed to be replaced as it was worn down. I said ok go ahead and replace it. Was told it would take an hour/ hour and a half to fix which wasn’t a problem. 5 hours later I see the workers joking around, going outside to get ice cream meanwhile I’m still waiting for my car. When I got my car back I noticed that the tire light was still on, I brought it to their attention and they brushed me off. Next morning I’m getting ready to go on a trip and I noticed I had a flat tire on the rear driver side. I also realized that was a new tire which confused me cause I wasn’t supposed to get a new tire there. I looked at the bill and realized they put THREE tires on my car instead of TWO and they charged me for it. I called immediately and told them they gave me an extra tire that I did not authorize and that tire also had a flat. They also changed the lug nuts on that wheel without telling me and the lug nuts did not fit my car jack. I then had to pay for someone to come out and change the tire since I couldn’t get it off myself. I brought the car back and they claimed they fixed the problem, when I brought up the third tire that they put on my car they told me there was nothing they could do about it. They put a brand new tire on my car without my permission then charged me and basically said oh well. There was never anything wrong with my tire or that wheel and they refused to refund me or do anything for me. I go home and the next morning I get up to go to work only to come outside and see I have a flat tire yet again from the same tire. I had to bring the car back to their shop, at no point did they ever apologize or even seem to care that they not only over charged me, but did a crappy job on my car in which I have had to come back numerous times for them to fix it properly. They get done fixing the car and had the audacity to say “we aren’t going to charge you for it.” I also overheard a woman complain that they did something to her car without telling her, so this seems to be a common thing with them on doing work to peoples car without telling them then charging them for it. Their customer service is horrible and the manager has a nasty attitude. It’s a shame cause I have gone to them in the past and the old manager was great and I never had a problem with them before. Read moreI hit a really bad pothole at 2am and both my passenger front and low tires went flat. I was 2 hours away from home and couldn’t get my car towed all the way there. The tow truck driver suggested this Mavis location because it was close. I had the car towed there and left my key in the overnight mail slot. I called after they opened and I spoke to Dan. My car wasn't inspected yet but based on my description of what happened Dan ordered 2 replacement tires right away so that they would be there same day in case I needed them. Unfortunately He called back to inform me that my rim was damaged and could not be repaired. I was able to get a friend to take me down to the shop and they showed me the damage. The wheel shop that they worked with was closed for the holiday and we were looking at a 3-4 day turnaround time for a replacement wheel. Luckily I keep my winter wheels and tires at another friend's house. I made arrangements to pick them up and bring them to the shop. They were very patient and kept my car on the lift the whole time. After I brought the wheels over they began working on removing my winter tires and transferring my summer tires over. They reached out because I forgot to give them my wheel key and wasn't sure where I had it stored but they were able to find it. One of my winter tire was damaged in the process, but Pete replaced it free of charge. My car was too low for the alignment rack so they didn’t want to take the risk of damaging it. They spent a considerable amount of time calling other locations in NJ until they found one with a recessed lift that could accommodate my car. The level of Service I received from Pete, Dan, and tech was above and beyond what I expected from anywhere. I was running on very little sleep and worried that my whole week was ruined, but they went above and beyond in helping me as much as they could and made the repair process not just hassle free but pleasant. They suggested a reasonable tire that would solve my immediate problem. I sat and waited for the tire change.The manager came over to me and shared vital information about my tires. They had worn unevenly, indicative of a need to replace my car's struts. It also meant that I would need to replace all my tires as well as the struts in the near future. As a conscientious driver who regularly drives between NYC and VT, the condition of my tires is of paramount importance to me. My car was nearing 90,000 highway miles and I never had my struts replaced. My tires had already surpassed their optimal performance. My regular maintainence place in Mamaroneck had never mentioned the poor condition of my struts and tires even though I had brought my car in a week prior for its 5,000 mile regular maintainence. I always inquire about the condition of my tires as they are of critical importance during adverse winter driving conditions in VT. It was the Mavis Manager in Mamaroneck who alerted me to the problems that had been detected while replacing the tire with 2 nails in it. I was most appreciative of his honesty and clarity in presenting my car's tire and struts dilemma to me. The tires he recommended were the same tires I had researched for my future set of tires. They were the Michelin Defender 2 tires. I made an appointment for having my tires and struts replaced. When the work was completed, I could feel the difference in how the car handled the road.
