I’m a neighbor of this supermarket and I typically shop here multiple times a week over the last 4 years. Today for the first time I decided to buy cold cuts from the deli department. After ordering 1/2lb of boars head buffalo chicken, I noticed the deli worker pick up a piece of chicken without its original wrapper and he began asking his coworkers if it was the correct product (they said yes). I eat this boars head buffalo chicken multiple times a week from other stores and I also worked for the boars head company myself for over 10 years. When the employee began slicing the chicken I could tell right away that there was absolutely no seasoning on the chicken and I believed it was a different product (boars head classic plain chicken). I asked the deli worker if it was in fact boars head buffalo chicken and he insured me it was even though I was certain of what I saw. I paid for the product and went out to to my car to begin eating it for lunch, immediately I could tell by the color, and taste that it was in fact not the correct product(there should have been red seasoning on the deli paper but there was absolutely none), I immediately brought it back inside and approached the manager. The manager took it to the deli and they reassured him that it was exactly what I ordered. The manager told me I was wrong and gave me a lame excuse as to why there was no buffalo seasoning on the buffalo chicken, he claimed it’s because they sliced it thin, It also tasted completely different (again I eat this same product multiple times a week). The wrapper on the piece of chicken that they sliced was completely removed which explains why the deli worker couldn’t identify it in the first place, also the expiration date was removed. This is against the code of the Boars head brand for a reason (the meat could have been expired and nobody would be able to tell). I asked for a refund and while they did give it to me, the manager made a point to tell me that he typically doesn’t refund deli meats because he cannot resell it. I guess he expected me to pay for a (mislabeled) product that I did not order. I’ve spent thousands of dollars in this store but I will never spend another. For deli products I would suggest customers visit other nearby supermarkets such as deciccos or ShopRite which is also cheaper with much better customer service .With years of experience in supermarkets and working for the boars head brand please take it from me that this is...
Read moreJust about anything you might want : The produce section is vast and has ethnic items as well as the everyday things and a generous amount of gourmet items. The prices at the wall display are at the top of the counter. There is usually a stocker there who can help. There is a staffed bakery corner stocked with a variety of fresh baked goods. Fresh fish? Go to the staffed Seafood corner where you will find workers who know their products. Feeling ethnic? Try the greek, Italian and mexican sections. Think feta, mozzarella and queso y crema fresca!!! Sweet tooth?--fresh baked items are both eye and palate pleasing. And we have not even touched upon the prepared foods and amazing meat counters. Did I mention the deli section with the traditional choices as well as pre cooked items! Do you like sushi? Yes, the sushi man is there and can make a special order. Are you a cheese lover. Too many varieties to list, but think international as well as domestic. Staff are all super polite and helpful. Cashiers work quickly. I suggest just browsing for the first visit. Fear not! Something will jump into your cart. Note that while the store does sell sodas, and a wide variety of other refreshments, there are no bottle return machines . Bottle returns are handled by...
Read moreMy wife, our family have frequented this place for years. Things have changed and unfortunately for the worst. It is literally every other visit we have had issues with rotten food. Month and half ago my wife bought a cod. It was all ammonia. Absolutely horrible. We haven't been back since. Until today. We decided to go back, Porterhouse steak, large serving of yellow vegetable rice, Buffalo mozzarella, mixed olives and a small macaroni salad. The rice was not just bad, it was putrid. The smell was exactly what you would smell from your outdoor garbage can, but worse. The mozzarella was sour, no taste, everything was just ok. It takes a lot for me to write a bad review being in the food business myself. But felt the need to write this for the safety of others. I hope they do what they have to do to get this business back to where it was. The people are great, as well as their customer service. But your only as food as...
