I went into West End Salon in New Paltz after a supremely awful experience at a high end Salon in the Hudson Valley, top rated, with several “Master” stylists. My hair needed a complete color correction, besides cut and style. The problem salon colored it and damaged my hair. After several consultations with other Hudson Valley high end salons I got several solutions to the dilemma. Each of which would have cost many hundreds of dollars. I wasn’t shopping for price, I was shopping for the best solution for my hair. I consulted with the owner of West End Salon & felt comforted by her complete understanding of the issues & her confident attitude about a fix. She was knowledgeable & experienced, having spent over 20+ years at a local excellent salon. I knew she had a large, loyal following. We agreed she would start immediately. I showed her images of the style I wanted (the same pics I gave the original stylist ) & she said she could get very close. She believed it could be accomplished in only a couple of hours. Others had felt it would take several 2 hr. visits. The end result is incredible. Almost exactly like the picture. My hair feels better than it did after the first nightmare, where I went from dirty blonde to a glaring bright red … it was supposed to be a lovely chestnut. Anne Mood & her assistant Lynne accomplished a stunning color, matched my desired picture, and I left elated. The wretched red was removed & I look better than I have in years. My partner also needed a haircut and asked if they take men. The haircut was excellent. And he expects to return regularly. The vibe, the look of the space, light and gorgeous, the welcoming attitude, the cup of coffee, and confidence + excellent cut and color correction make this my new and only place for hair in all of the Hudson Valley. Anne is THE BEST. Her new salon, smack-dab in New Paltz, is gorgeous and relaxing with plenty of parking and beautiful views out the large windows. There's a lovely outside deck (with privacy from Main Street) for waiting for processing, etc. The whole vibe is sophisticated without being pretentious. Anne has been coloring/cutting/styling my hair for about 15 years and I would follow her anywhere. Time in her chair is always fun and the results are fantastic.
