The first thing I noticed when I opened the door was the smell; not of anything I could identify, but just old, dank, definitely not fresh. I opted to put my mask on as there were three or four women working on knitting projects and sharing the space. When I indicated that I needed to browse, a woman (who appeared to be in charge) explained the layout of the store and where various yarns could be found. After I found something to purchase, I looked around for someone I could pay; the same woman I had spoken with earlier was now sitting down with the other women and eating/drinking -- I was told she'd be with me in a minute -- guess she wanted to finish her refreshments. When she came to the counter, she complained that she had to spend time looking up what to charge me because her system had blown up and she had to buy a new one and it was causing her a great deal of work to get things up and running again. So it was really a "meh" experience; it may be that the owner knows a lot about knitting, but that first impression with the stuffy surroundings and rather unprofessional complaining on the part of the owner was rather...
Read moreI'm relatively new to the world of knitting and was excited to find this yarn store. Unfortunately, not everyone there was friendly or helpful. When we walked in the store, a lady came over and did ask what was I looking for, but this wasn't a hello welcome to our store, it was a what exactly do you need. She showed me where the yarn I was looking for was, and told me that there were yarns on sale in the store tagged accordingly. Ok. Then, when we started perusing the isles filled with yarn, they started following my mother and I around the store. The last straw was when I walked over to the middle table with on sale yarn. The attendant rushed over right next to me, to get to her cell phone and laptop she had placed there. OMG, really!!!. I should have just walked out at that point, but I purchased what I needed for my project and left. It's sad because yarn is addicting, I will just take my money to another yarn store, one that values its patrons and...
Read moreI found KNIT during a shop crawl several years ago and it has become my go-to LYS. Cheryl is an amazing person and such a gifted teacher. My knitting skills have improved tremendously over the years thanks to Cheryl and her staff. (Cindy, Nancy, Kathy). I am happy being part of this wonderful group; many of whom have become friends. Even during the pandemic, Cheryl kept us in the loop with Zoom Knit Nites, offering new ideas, and new ways to meet our knitting goals and needs for community. KNIT has a broad range of gorgeous yarns, some which are exclusive to the shop, priced comparatively to other high quality yarns and a wide array of knitting accessories, including buttons. Cheryl welcomes everyone to come sit at the table. I try to as...
