Fast, smart, friendly, knowledgeable, going the extra mile - the whole team was great. And... if your glasses fog up, trust me the Optifog feature is worth the money - both for the winter and the way our glasses fog up when wearing a mask due to Covid 19 - I'll come back to that.
Dr. Krasnoff gave me good advice, even when it was saving me money by telling me what I didn't need. Laurie made finding frames I liked and that looked good on me fast and easy. Greg worked with me when I wanted/needed some complicated things and found solutions that got me what I needed.
I had an old pair of nice frames with lenses that never worked and wanted to get new lenses in them... but then on a whim, I asked if they had anything that would prevent my glasses from fogging up when wearing a mask and he told me about Optifog. It wasn't covered by my insurance and seemed a little expensive on my budget, and I was skeptical, but foggy glasses were driving me crazy - so I said sure let's look into it - and I'm glad I did.
He went through my insurance for the nice frames that Laurie helped me pick out with good lenses that had everything I wanted, except the Optifog. Then got me a second pair of stand-alone lenses with the Optifog. He swapped the Optifog lenses into my brand new frames and the ones that had come through insurance into the older frames I had brought in - so I left with two great pairs without needing to buy a second pair of new frames. And... that was harder than it sounds since they were semi-rimless and swapping lenses can get tricky.
Again, the whole team was great.
Now, Optifog. It's great. Seriously. My glasses don't fog up at all 98% of the time, even when going in and out of the car or house with temperatures changing - or when wearing a mask in a store or wherever. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to see clearly when wearing a mask for long periods of time. The only time any issue at all I was hiking for hours with a mask on upstate after it snowed last weekend and eventually I just needed to give the glasses a second rub down with the Optifog activator cloth and I was good for the rest of the hike.
Optifog is built into the lenses but gets activated with a once a day rub down with the special activator cloth. Some days I don't use the cloth at all since I'm not always leaving the house during Covid, and even then they seem better than your average lenses. When I am going out for the day, or just a few hours to run errands and such, I just give them the once a day rub down and they work great.
I already plan to bring my wife to see the team at Village Optical when she's ready to get new glasses and I will highly recommend them to anyone I hear looking to get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām very shocked at the 4.5 star reviews this place have. I was recommended by a co worker to this place that they are so nice and do a thorough exam however, I was treated very poorly and nasty. These people are all about money $$$ ⦠I had an appointment on Saturday as a first time patient. When I walked in , the so called manager ( a tall slender white man) was assisting a family of 4 then an Indian lady was assisting another lady- no one greeted me when I walked in or asked if I had an appointment as they saw me waiting in the middle of their small āshackā of an office. I finally said excuse me to the Indian lady and told her I had an appointment and sheās said ok the Dr will call you in shortly , have a seat. I was mind blown as to they didnāt want me filling out any paper work, show ID and my insurance card. Already I had a bad feeling. 10 min later , I guess it was the Dr, called me to the back office where he did an auto refract test . He then brings me into the room and says ok we have to do a visual test to see the health of the back of your eye and itāll be $40 - thatās not covered by insurance but we have to get it done. I said whoooaaaw NOPE! I said Iām just here to check the vision , not health of my eye and I preceded to say I have an OPHTHALMOLOGIST already who does that . He was trying so hard to make me pay for the services , him- as a OPTOMETRIST- doesnāt have to be doing. He think Iām stupid as Iāve worked for many specialized Drs especially an eye Dr and know how they operate . So then he kicked me out the room and said he canāt see me. I work for the hospital right down the road and I will DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND. Go to GLEN OAKS FAMILY VISION if youāre in the area- much better customer service and better professionalism. Oh and to convolute I went to speak with the so called manager and he totally ignored me as he saw me standing there to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am very disappointed with how Village Optical in NHP treated my daughter and I as customers. The staff was insensitive, inconsiderate, and refused to help a returning customer with special needs. They are in fact violating the American Disability Act which states that businesses should not discriminate against individuals with hearing, speech, and vision disabilities.
When I called Village Optical to schedule an eye exam for my daughter, I informed Lorrie a staff member that my daughter is hearing impaired and relies heavily on lipreading to understand speech but can communicate verbally. Due to Covid and face mask mandates, this presents a challenge for her. I asked Lorrie if the doctor would be willing to accommodate my daughter by simply writing out the questions asked during the exam thereby allowing her to read them. Lorrieās immediate response was that it would take too long and they donāt have enough time to write out questions. (Like this is so time consuming smh). I persisted and inquired if there was any way to accommodate a hearing impaired patient. She then directed me to Greg another staff member.
When Greg called back he was also very unreceptive to the simple solution of communicating by writing. I also made another suggestion that perhaps the doctor could communicate by typing in Notepad on his phone which can be faster than writing. He was also resistant to this reasonable request as well and stated that staff could not use their cell phones for this purpose. (Really? smh) At this point I could tell that conversing with this establishment was absolute pointless.
To end on a positive note, I did find 2 other Optical Centers that were more than willing to make accommodations for my daughterās...
