JCPenney — Local services in Town of Plattsburgh

I passed through this store twice around Thanksgiving this year because it was the first time I'd been in close proximity to a mall in over a year, I had holiday cash burning a hole in my pocket, and there were Deals™️. The first time I stopped through was to get a winter coat, and when I got to the counter,,,, shenanigans ensued. The tall, dark-haired Landon rang me up, and when I say this guy knew the script, I mean he KNEW the script. This guy put the team on his back trying to upsell me on the J.C.Penney credit card. I was the only customer in line and we ended up bantering for quite some time about getting the credit card because he was so committed to both 1. Getting that sign-up, and 2. The Bit®️.

I knew I had no intention whatsoever of getting the card, but I could scarcely turn away either. I was absolutely mesmerized by his ability to turn everything back around to the upsell. It was like watching a sleight-of-hand magician - Artful, confusing, and it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Landon was not only cordial and determined, but he had a hilariously dry sense of humor that had me in stitches, all-around fantastic salesman.

When I came back the second time around, the fervor had not died. Blond Landon even jumped in on the pitch this time. I was facing a dual-front upsell, and they had me on the ropes. Or so they thought. They couldn't account for one thing: Despite all of their well-spoken counterpoints, no amount of sales tactics will convince me to allow another hard inquiry of my credit right now because my student loan lender takes that as a sign to raise my interest rate 😂. For a nanosecond there tho,,,, almost sold me on it lol. Excellent work by your sales...

Overpriced. Men's department is always a disaster. Never cleaned up. Never organized.

Terrible sales. All their sales seem to require you to buy more than one of an item to get a discount. For example, buy one get one half price. Well, I don't need two pair of jeans or whatever. Just one. How about 25% off one pair? Or even 20% off one pair as an incentive to buy two. Nope. Have to buy two or pay full price for one. Well guess what? You just lost a sale because I would have bought one if there was a discount. Your marketers are terrible which is one of the many reasons why JCPenney is going bankrupt.

This company and this store in general has completely fallen from grace. In years past, JCPenney used to be fantastic. No more. Those days are long gone. I don't even consider JCPenney anymore for...

I just tried calling so I can figure out if they still do still do battery replacements in watches cuz I purchased a watch from there and I called literally every department and the operator nobody picked up a phone not one person, does anybody still work there? can I just go there and pick up whatever I want? Hello!!!!!! Update, they stopped watch battery replacements because of COVID 19. Lol what a joke. Nevermind 2014 when the Ebola scare happened no need to shut down the battery placement there though. Sounds like a move to just get rid of someone so you didn't have to pay...
