Michaels — Local services in Town of Riverhead

I shop at this Michael’s all the time because I work out in Riverhead and it is very convenient for me. However, I did give one star because of the experience I received from the cashier this evening. I went in to pick some crafts up for my daughter’s school and I mistakenly left behind some Christmas candles at the self checkout. I called the store to let them know and for them to hold it until I am able to go pick it up. The cashier told me there is no way for her to know if anything was left behind or if it was put back onto the shelf. I do understand maybe there is no way for her to know. But she did not offer to help me out at all by inquiring and then she hung up the phone on me. When I called back she told me I hung up which I didn’t. I’m not usually one to make a big deal for $15 but the customer service for very disappointing. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and I was told there is no one there tonight. HORRIBLE MANAGER!! I believe the managers name was Jessie. My mom and I bought items from Michaels two days ago and went to return the items today as the items were defective. The manager said they item was faulty but they can’t accept it and to call customer service. My mom responded with “aren’t you suppose to accept faulty item back then” and Jessi responded “No. The only thing we accept is broken glass”. Which what she was saying doesn’t make any sense. My mom proceeded to ask for a manager and she said she was the manager and began to get snippier and rude. So we left and called customer service right away and they responded with saying they are suppose to accept the items and shouldn’t have given us a hard time. Someone needs to...

Michaels is a reliable source of materials for small crafts projects and home-style goods. The quality will generally range from acceptable to good, but buyer beware: make sure your item is in good condition before you buy it, as Michaels as a chain seems okay with putting less-than-perfect goods on the shelf (one can find photo albums which are slightly crushed on one corner, photo frames which are dinged, etc.). The men's room was also fairly gross; granted, the restrooms are not a key factor in visiting one shop or another, but keeping them in good condition is always a good idea. Polite staff and cashiers, but I doubt the whole team's level of attention to detail. An okay store, but I always leave wishing it...
