One of the few chain bookstores that is actually over 90 percent books! Not endless nick nacks and calligraphy sets. The place hasn't been totally taken over by manga either (but don't worry weebs, they've still got plenty! 😂), again because so much floor space is dedicated to actual books.
Book lovers of riverhead and surrounding areas, please go and spend! Don't let it die like so many, I love indie bookstores as much as anybody but you need the big ones as well for broad selection. This place is a gem, if you've avoided it because (like me), you've been disgusted by the nicknackification of the big stores over the years, know that that isn't the case...
Read moreNormally I hate chains, but this B&N was terrific. Super kudos to the young woman who helped my daughter in the young adults/tween section of the bookstore. My kid was only going to get one book, but after fifteen minutes of talking with this staff member - and being permitted to spend half an hour reading a bit from several books, she found seven books to buy and another half dozen she wants on our next visit. I’m docking you one star because you need to add more records in the music department, but your staff, including the green haired young woman who gave my kid some other friendly advice, are absolute stars....

Came in because I know they have the NYTimes crossword puzzle books and high quality reading lampa, both items that I forgot to pack for my beach holiday. The only disappointment was that they do not carry any mechanical pencils, which are my writing tool of choice. Please stock some Faber Castell or Staedler mechanical pencils (with lead refills of course)! I bet there would even be a market for high end, hard to find German/Swiss/Japanese mechanical...
