So advance warning it's a bit long.
I have recently started physical therapy and bilateral epidural steroid injections, due to nerve issues and compromised feeling / pain in my lower back. My old mattress (A VERY HEAVY memory foam queen size) just wasn't cutting it anymore, along with having to turn it to prevent sagging (which you have to do more frequently as they get older).
So I had 4 stipulations when I started shopping Another Queen Size Firm Mattress Lighter / Easier to maneuver Cheaper the better (got to save as much as you can in these times.)
Saturday I had been to 2 other stores before City Mattress Victor. Macy's and JC Penny's although i was able to find mattresses of the quality or price I was looking for it was still a little more than i wanted to spend or not quiet what I wanted. Plus they both charge for shipping.
When we arrived at City Mattress Victor we were welcomed by Fred, I told him what were looking for and explained what is above in a little more detail and our journey began. We started with the sales and cheaper mattresses and worked our way up the scale of quality and price. I was finally deciding on one when he informed me of the shipping dates...although a week (with a possibility of delay due the recent events) is very a acceptable and understandable time frame...the uncertainty bothered me. So I asked about floor models. With that he was able to direct me a really nice model that I liked a lot and give me a great price that I was able to afford because City Mattress always has free shipping.
Tuesday The delivery men arrived right on time. One gentleman came to the door and verified everything while the other brought my mattress up. He literally carried my mattress up the driveway and onto my deck on his shoulder. I took it from there (because I was positive then that I'd be able to handle maneuvering it around on my own). Getting it into the house, my room, onto my old box spring and made up took no time at all and was an absolute breeze compared to my old one. And when my dog and I finally plopped down on it, we were ready...
Read moreI purchased a top of the line Prana mattress 7 years ago. While still in warranty the mattress developed troughs where my wife and I sleep. We are not heavy people, we each are under 185 lbs, I contacted City Mattress and they sent out a tech to measure the depths of the trough indentation. They used a measuring methodology they claim is "industry standard" but defies all logic. They didn't measure the depth of the indentation from the high point on the mattress, they measured by running a string from edge to edge. However, the edges have collapsed over the years. This doesn't measure the actual depth of the indentation. The string, stretched across the bed resembled a tee pee frame! As a result, their remedy was to purchase a new foundation for $1500 that supposedly helped correct the situation. I saw this as throwing good money after bad. I also read on the Better Business site in Florida (their Hdqtr) that others have complained the Prana mattresses have developed indentations after a few years and City Mattress used the same illogical measuring system. The mattress was comfortable for a few years but the company didn't live up to their customer satisfaction claims. As a result I have a new Saatva being delivered tomorrow. If customer service is important to you I do not recommend...
Read moreReese sold us a Prana mattress, mind you, I came in totally open minded to any mattress - instead of just shoving us into an extremely expensive mattress he put us on a starter one not expensive (comfy) but then moved us on to the next step up of the Prana Karma. It was amazing, frankly the product sold itself.
He was very educational on why it was a good product and then I explained that my boyfriend who is a very tall and large man has lower back issues (he was with me so he knew how to fit him appropriately in a bed) and we would probably need some new box springs. But instead of new box springs he put us in an ergo base- it’s a little more expensive but LIFE CHANGING (again these things sell themselves.) Overall, the sales experience was fun and educational. I have already reached out to friends and family about it and recommended they speak to Reese.
Further, they delivered the mattress and base today. No issues. Staff was friendly and they removed my old one (for a small fee but who wants to deal with that). Thanks city mattress! Im totally a life long...
