I stop in fairly often, normally for smaller things now. The store appears clean inside. But not always so outside. It's by no means filthy. I blame a lot of this on the customers. People just leave carts and sometimes garbage all over. It's very annoying that you cannot park because people just leave there carts and trash, in the parking spots. As such I have founds carts pushed into the side of my vehicle, with no regard for damaging it. So I started parking way on the side end of the parking lot. But now I have to be careful not to push a cart into an open spot to unload into my vehicle. This Hannaford has locking carts and will lock the wheels. Then I have to literally drag the locked wheel cart back to the cart pen. I find it very annoying. I guess they have a problem with people taking carts out of the parking lot. Back to the inside of the store. It does seem clean inside. Hannaford does not seem to standardize their stores. So it can be confusing finding items between stores. The warm food is hit and miss. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. But mostly OK. There is issues with items being stocked lately. Maybe I should say, unstacked. But I do not feel Hannaford should be blamed for that. You cannot stock what you cannot get. Navigating the store and especially trying to check out can be far from optimum. Once again the customers can make it very chaotic. Not drastically so. But I find this Hannaford to be a less than desirable shopping experience. As such I normally only stop in for small things and use the do the work yourself register. It's a shame. It probably could be a really nice place. But for some reason, some people feel that they are more important and their time is more valuable than other folks. As such, this Hannaford only...
Read moreThey used to have the best sushi in town; unfortunately, over the past few months, the quality and freshness has gone downhill. This store used to have two or three Japanese sushi chefs at any given time; now they just have one guy do all of it. I’m sure he’s doing his best; but it’s clear that there needs to be more than just him. To be fair it isn’t the worst, (Adam’s still has a firm grip on that dishonor) but now it’s just…decent at best. At least the Pine Bush location has more chefs and a better selection. (Which is weird; considering Middletown is definitely more diverse than Pine Bush)
Currently the best place to get sushi in Middletown is ShopRite. The MASSIVE catch is; you have to get it on Wednesdays and they have to be in a black container with red and gold swirls. That guarantees the best freshness and quality in town. Anything served in a blue wave pattern container is either overpriced, ridiculously small pieces; or both!
Middletown’s Hannaford isn’t as good as the black container sushi; but is definitely better than the blue container sushi.
UPDATE: I just had the rainbow roll; and it was so stomach churningly vile that I felt physically sick after...
Read moreAll the staff I've met is friendly, helpful, and professional. They also seem pretty happy as employees, compared to other places I've been -- which I think is a great thing. They have a great selection of fresh produce and organic/natural products. Though they have marked sections for natural/organic foods, not all natural/organic foods are in those marked sections, and the occasional item in those sections is a mistake -- so it's good to use these sections as a guide rather than anything definite. I'm very happy with the natural/organic frozen foods -- they have more options than many other supermarkets I've been to. It's a clean store, and very well-maintained. My only issue is that I've seen the occasional shady thing going on in the parking lot. (I think this happens at many parking lots, so I don't blame Hannaford for this.) I mentioned this in an e-mail to management and haven't seen anything since -- they were also very concerned and apologetic. So, overall, I'd say it's a...
