UPDATE: We’ve gone back multiple times already, thankfully the service has been wonderful!!!
I've had two disappointing experiences at this HomeGoods location, both involving a cashier named Robin. In both instances, my wife, who is Muslim, felt the treatment she received was noticeably different from that of other customers.
During the first visit, Robin was very friendly and went out of her way to assist a white customer, even involving a manager for a return. However, when my wife approached the counter, Robin was much less helpful, even telling her to 'get out of line' and check for additional stock herself. The tone and manner of this interaction left my wife feeling uncomfortable and dismissed.
The second time, just a few days ago, my wife received only a brief 'Hi' when she approached the register, while other customers were greeted with more warmth and courtesy. Like "How are you today?" and "Did you find everything you were looking for?" After completing the transaction, Robin handed her the receipt without any further acknowledgment.
While I can't say for sure if this was intentional or based on personal bias, the stark contrast in treatment is concerning. I hope management takes these observations into consideration and provides additional customer service training to ensure all customers are treated equally and respectfully, regardless of...
Read moreI generally love Home Goods stores. This particular location on John R and 14Mile stands out from the rest in a bad way. One time I purchased a glass jar of coconut oil. The cashier, Debbie M, refused to double bag it and it broke as it was too heavy for s single bag. My most recent visit I purchased a non stick ceramic coated frying pan. Same cashier, Debbie M, refused to wrap it in a tissue. She just put the frying pan in a single bag. The handle of the frying pan was sticking out of the bag as I carried it. Debbie M was very rude and identified herself as a manager. I called customer service and they were nice and apologized. They told me that Debbie is not the manager and that the actual manager is Bradley. They told me they going to let Bradley know and that he'll get back to me. Well, he never did and in the meantime I got yelled at by "the manager' and brought home merchandise that got damaged as it was not properly packaged. I love Home Goods in general, but would avoid this particular location due to it's rude, horrible...
Read moreI moved into an apartment for the first time in 2013. I went to Home Goods and kept going back even after I finished decorating. It became my "me time" place to go, browse and unwind my mind by looking at all the pretty things. I take my friends there and introduced a family member from California to it and they are hooked! In terms of the messy isles, unfortunately and typically that is because customers go in and throw rugs on the floor to look at them and just leave them there. Remove towels, open them up and put them back in whatever manner they choose and handle other store items the same way. By the time store clerks go from stock to register to the floor, there are times when a mess is left and hard for other shoppers to enjoy the journey. Tina is great, patient, professional, pleasant...
