I’ve been here twice—once in April and again more recently. Both visits left me disappointed, mostly due to the service.
The food is actually very good, which is what brought me back a second time. But the service, unfortunately, has been consistently lacking. On my first visit, I ordered at the self-serve kiosk (which then prompted me for a tip). While I understand tipping is customary for tipped-wage positions, it felt off to be asked when I was placing and picking up my own order. I chose not to tip, and while waiting by the counter, I overheard some employees commenting on that choice. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it created an awkward and bitter vibe.
Despite that, I decided to give the place another shot. At first, things seemed to be going better—a friendly staff member answered our questions about other locations and was very helpful. We ordered donuts, boba, and two corn dogs. After receiving the donuts and boba, we stood near the counter waiting for the rest of our order. When the corn dogs were ready, another employee handed them over but told us—rather loudly and with an attitude—that we needed to sit down and stop leaving trash behind. She pointed to a straw wrapper and a receipt, which she assumed were ours. We hadn’t even unwrapped our straws yet, and when I pointed that out, she didn’t apologize and still insisted we sit.
There were only a few other people in the shop, and we weren’t in the way. But her tone and volume made the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable, and we felt singled out. We ended up leaving shortly after that exchange.
After two visits with poor service, I won’t be returning. The food might be worth it, but the overall...
Read moreWe recently visited Mochinut Troy with our tony mascot in tow and had a delightful experience overall!
The original corn dog was a standout—super tasty and satisfying. We also tried the potato and ramen corn dogs. While they were delicious, they can be a bit messy, so we recommend ordering them to-go or being prepared for a bit of a cleanup afterward. The packaging doesn’t offer much room for any falling bits, and the only trays available are for the ramen.
Some clearer signage could really help with the ordering process, as it was a bit confusing with the screen next to the cash register.
We also indulged in the 3-piece mochi donut package. The raspberry funnel was good, but think it could benefit from a bit more raspberry flavor. The churro was fantastic, reminiscent of an elephant ear, and the 4-year-old absolutely loved the strawberry pocky—he couldn't get enough! The mochi donuts were tasty, and we think they’d be even better warmed up. They’re fun to eat, as they break apart easily.
One unique feature that caught our eye was the self-serve ramen bar, which seemed very popular. We’d love to give that a try on the next visit, especially since it had clear instructions for customers.
The atmosphere was nice, but the music was quite loud, which made it hard to fully enjoy the vibe. Despite this, the delicious smells inside were inviting, and we noticed others enjoying bubble teas and drinks that looked appealing.
Overall, we would recommend Mochinut Troy for a tasty treat, and look forward to returning to sample more items from the menu. Plus, there's plenty of free parking, which is...
Read moreI like the atmosphere here it's pretty minimal and the music is good. We were so excited to bring our daughter to try the mochi donuts. But there was a fly crawling all over a few of them and the lady was still packaging orders. We knew she seen it and even after saying something she only got rid of the one the fly was currently on, of course it flew off. It came right back and was crawling all over the donuts again. Seeing that the mochi donuts here were a NO for us. We were only able to try the lemonade which was not too bad it has a little after taste. We got the rice dog with mozzarella and the one that's just mozzarella. It was really good crispy freshly made. The Ramen was good the one we got was spicy. Making the ramen there was a really cool experience. The lady at the counter was nice. It was really the fly thing it threw us all the way off. Especially knowing people would be recieving donuts that a fly had been crawling on. They need something to close the casing for the mochi donuts. Also, being comfortable with your customers watching that. There's literally no telling how many mochi donuts went out after that fly was crawling all over them because it was in there when...
