Disappointing Experience at Urban Outfitters – Bridgeport Village
I walked into Urban Outfitters at Bridgeport Village expecting the vibrant, well-curated store I once knew. Instead, I was met with something that looked more like a swap meet than a high-end retail space. The inventory felt completely off-brand—ceramic pink cowboy hats, ceramic ashtrays (who even buys ashtrays anymore?), and a scattering of baseball caps. It lacked the stylish, unique pieces that used to make Urban Outfitters a go-to destination for trendy fashion and home goods.
Despite there being several employees present, not one greeted us or asked if we needed help. My date was actually looking for a gift for his mother, but with the lack of assistance and the disorganized state of the store, that wasn’t going to happen. The entire place felt messy and neglected, and it was clear that customer service was not a priority. Employees were more interested in chatting and looking at their phones than straightening merchandise or engaging with customers.
Maybe the retail model for this location has shifted to self-service, but as someone who works in retail myself, I don’t see this store surviving much longer if it continues down this path. The lack of attention to inventory, presentation, and customer service is a recipe for failure. Unless leadership steps in to bring structure and engagement back to the store, I can’t imagine it lasting another six months.
It’s disappointing because this location has so much potential. But as it stands, I wouldn’t return, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Urban Outfitters, you...
Read moreUnfortunately this is my favorite place to buy clothes, but I will not be going to this location anymore. A few months ago I stopped by this location and had a bag from brandy melville and it beeped when I walked into Urban. I was rudely approached and the associate took my bag and dumped it onto the table without even asking. This happened a SECOND time yesterday when I went in after I had gone to the Brandy store and my bag beeped. I was approached when I walked in and the same thing happened even though there was NO censors on any of my items. I bought several items from Urban Outfitter's yesterday and when I walked out of the store my bag beeped again. This time as I was leaving, a different employee rudely grabbed my bag from my hands without even asking and dumped all of my items onto the table and again, couldn't find any sensors. First of all, this is extremely disrespectful considering I spend SO much money at their store and it is not my fault that brandy melville has weird sensors that they don't take off. But the way I was approached was totally out of line and it was humiliating having the whole store watch them interrogate and go through my bags when I had just spent over 400$ at their store. I hope no one else has to deal with this because it is complete disrespect. I did not appreciate getting my bags searched through and dumped out without even asking. It's unfortunate that the employees do this to...
