After going out of my way to buy items from a local small business and having hit or miss needs met with items I needed for various mexican dishes I cook. On three separate visits I wanted to get pork shoulder without success. Still I kept coming back. On my last visit I purchased items for chili verde (not the shoulder) and I bought some of their in house baked hot dog buns. We started using them immediately and on the 3rd night but only 48 hours from purchase the last two buns molded. When I returned today which will be my last time, I was trying to get items for carnitas ( still no shoulder available) with an arm full of veggies and peppers I asked about something being done for the bread that didn't last into the first hour of day 3. After a unnecessary back and forth that found the checker refusing me, then stating I needed a receipt, then saying I needed to bring the bread back (moldy bread), all of which wasn't necessary because I had a photo and had the receipt. In the end netted me a face to face with the person in charge. After explaining without an intermediary my position was that there is an expectation for a purchase of bread to last longer than 48 hours from the moment you purchase it which. Granted this bread did not have preservatives her explanation to me was that the bread needed to be thrown out every third day and to that point it made little sense to not replace my two buns or refund me the difference or give me a package of the bread and allow me to freeze it accordingly now armed with the knowledge I shouldn't expect it to last past day 2. She instead offered me 10% off the purchase of 8 buns or which I had meat and need for two of at present. Knowing full well she likely will end up throwing away a package or more, but saw me as an adversary instead of a customer who had gone the other way to give a small business. An opportunity to be good at what small businesses should be good at taking good care of customers and the community for that matter. For a carniceria to not have pork shoulder. Three separate visits in a row was almost enough of a reason. Never to come back to be treated like I was trying to scam or get over on the business over bread that admittedly was being thrown out at a high degree was just the universe telling me spend your money somewhere else. Even whole foods deserves it more than Wild...
Read moreA must try! Absolutely wonderful surprise! Do you like grilling? They got you.. Do you hate grilling in the heat, but want the charred flavor? They got you. Either way this place is a home run all day because they'll grill your meat for you on their outdoor BBQ if you want! What a cool option on hot summer days!
I had assumed this sparkling clean store was only a meat market, OH NO NO NO, it is so much MORE! It was the 4th of July and we hadn't made any plans, so on a Yelp search whim, we went to get something to BBQ and we came back with so much! They have a variety of entrees ready to serve in the $12-13 price range, all your faves. They make their own chicharrones, baked goods, meats. We chose the following are were very very happy with all of them:
A giant burrito (tender chunks of pork) with extra nice rice & beans A trio of the best, chubbiest, street tacos with rice & beans 12 red beef tamales with small olives for an authentic Latin pop of deliciousness 2 lbs of marinated spicy chicken ready to grill A bag of their Conchos A container of grilled salsa/relish A bag of tortillas And a new place to buy meat & Mexican food!
We loved the great service, the meat counter was stocked with homemade chorizo, great looking steaks, chicken & more. Extra friendly service, too!
They had a giant candy section, salsas & hot sauces, piles of every tortilla, & other Mexican staples for your cooking pleasure.
My only suggestion would be some large sandwich boards outside to indicate you have lots of ready to eat food. This was a great find and we can't...
Read moreI’m not going to lie—I had a religious experience at Wild West Carniceria.
After seeing all the hype on social media, I decided to drive 20 miles into town to see what this place was about. Let me tell you—WWC lives up to the hype.
The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the cashier and the kitchen staff. I’ve never felt so welcome in my life. The staff is incredibly friendly and makes everyone feel at home.
The store is packed with amazing food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus an insane variety of snacks and treats. If you can’t find something here, you’re not looking hard enough. And the birria bombs? 10/10.
Everything on the menu looked tempting, but I went with the three quesabirria tacos. Our food was ready in under 10 minutes, and we took our seats outside. When I opened the container, I saw three of the most beautiful tacos I’d ever laid eyes on. I dipped the first one into the rich, flavorful birria and took a bite… and I swear, I felt something. You know when people talk about finding Jesus? Yeah, that was me in that moment. Every bite was perfection—the meat was tender, the cheese was melty, and the flavor was unreal.
The drink selection is impressive, but do yourself a favor and grab the homemade horchata in a pouch. You won’t regret it.
WWC also offers a huge selection of fresh food to take home for lunch, family meals, or even massive gatherings.
I already can’t wait to go back and try something new. This place is 100% worth your time, money,...
