I have been an avid gamer for a while and will always have a thing for videogame shops. However, even though I have bought stuff from practically every gamestop in Tucson I can't necessarily recommend it as a company to anyone and I will tell you why: 1) the racket they run with preowned items is atrocious, 2) they do not try and offer real deals with any kind of regularity even though they know the market well (many times their preowned games are more than brand new copies elsewhere), 3) their checkout process is slow and annoying and they don't have a dedicated buy-only line. Many times I have sat waiting 5-10 minutes to checkout because they are screwing around with some douche over who knows what or talking on the phone when they have customers in the store waiting to check out, and then when you finally get to check out they try to see if you preorders, see if you have rewards and do you want them and are you sure, and try to sell you protection plans. I get it, but at the same time they should get it: I'm a grown man, I know what I'm here for, and please don't tell me again that you only have a preowned case for my brand new game.
I only go to Gamestop now when my deal sites flag me to some weird limited deal they're having, and MAYBE if I feel like a group atmosphere for a midnight release. I will always remember waiting in line for Skyrim at midnight and that particular store let me have my collector's edition guidebook early while I waited. That was pretty awesome but not something I give Gamestop exclusively much credit for but it was still a...
Read moreRudest employee I’ve ever met. There was a line of maybe 10 people that were waiting to go in for some new Pokemon releases. The employee gave numbers to every single one of this group of friends, but not the 2 people that weren’t part of the group. The employee didn’t even try to make it fair for everyone and this group was allowed to buy all the Pokemon cards. When I brought this up to the employee, he was extremely disrespectful and rude about it and said that they were loyal customers as if that makes it fair to anybody else that wants to shop at GameStop. I guess you have to be a loyal customer to GameStop to get a chance at Pokémon cards these days. I understand that there is a shortage on Pokémon cards however allowing this group of friends to buy out the entire restock is absolutely disrespectful to all the other Customers that waited in line
I will be filing a complaint with customer service on this employee and also speaking with their district...
Read moreBuyer Beware! Dont pre-order your games here unless you dont want your DLC code on the receipt because the manager is on the phone the entire time working out a deal for Joy-Con controllers. The other girl seemed nice as well as the other guy that works there. At least I didn't get forced into being asked to pre-order the newest call of duty like everyone in front of me cause I got my receipt and then she took another call. Typically I get the standard gamestop fluff about pre-ordering games I don't want, an over-priced power up rewards program I have no interest in, trading in games, and my personal "favorite" getting charged twice as much for a dinged and bent comic book. For all I know they sneak warranties onto the transactions without people knowing. They did it to a friend of mine. Used to consider this gamestop one of the good ones, but the more I shop there the more I see that all Gamestops are created equally. Equally...
