Waiting for a tow truck for MANY hours in the petco parking lot, we took the very well groomed dog into petco. Asking ANGEL (now hilarious-as they were NO angel) if they had water we could BUY to give the dog... ANGEL said,"no, we have no water for sale" 'ok, is there any water for my dog?" Angel again responded with "NO".. "do you have ANY water in the store?" ANGEL responded ,"there's a water fountain in the back, but your dog can't reach it" WHAT???? it's 100 degrees, PETCO has no water! WE were able to purchase water next door and waited for a taxi. The TAXI driver recalled 2 times spending over $350.00 in a Petco and upon asking to use the restroom was told "It's CLOSED!" This is the SAME story I've heard from OTHER actual customers!!! I fully understand that perceived 'unsavories' take advantage of restrooms..... but $350!?!?!?! and NO RESTROOMS..... Even then... Petco has no water for pets.... PetNO NOT PETCO!!!!! shame shame shame! The PETCO corporate PSA online states: PSA: Petco Locations Nationwide Double as 'Cooling Centers' to Help Pets Beat the Heat This Summer The pet health and wellness company offers refuge and shares veterinarian-recommended tips to help keep pets safe and cool
SAN DIEGO, July 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- As temperatures soar across the country, Petco Health and Wellness Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: WOOF) welcomes leashed pets of all breeds, shapes and sizes into pet care centers nationwide, where they and their families can seek refuge from the extreme heat. They can also stay hydrated with access to fresh, clean and safe water at Petco locations during regular business hours.

"It's critical that pet parents know how to recognize any signs that their furry family members may be experiencing dehydration or heat exhaustion, and how to help them stay cool and hydrated. I'm proud that Petco pet care centers are opening their doors to offer pets and their families a safe haven where they can retreat, rehydrate and pick up cooling solutions while out and about this summer."
What pet parents should know, according to Dr. Miller:
Prioritize hydration: Pets should always have access to fresh, clean and safe water. Petco pet care centers are offering cool drinking water for pets in disposable water bowls, which helps limit the risk of disease transmission. Pets can also access shade in Petco locations, as just a few minutes of direct sunlight in extreme temperatures can risk heat exhaustion. Recognize the watchouts: Signs of overheating and dehydration in pets include panting, drooling, deep or rapid breathing, weakness, disorientation, and vomiting. If pets begin exhibiting any of these symptoms, move them to a cool, shaded area immediately, give them fresh water and contact a trusted veterinarian if...
Read moreI visited the Petco store at Broadway and Craycroft today, Friday June 11th at around 1:45 p.m.. I was treated very poorly when I walked in the store. Here are the details: when I walked in the store nobody greeted me and when I reached out and asked for help from a store employee by the name of Aaron, she was extremely rude to me and said that she was busy and just walked away without telling me that she would be with me as soon as she was done helping the customer or that she would find someone else in the store to help me. What Aaron said to me along with her body language I thought was extremely rude. 10 minutes later I saw her at one of the cash registers with no customers and just standing there doing nothing, having a conversation with the other cashier instead of coming over and offering to help me. I was then greeted by a store employee by the name of Mike and he was very pleasant and told me that he would help me as soon as he was done with a customer or he would find someone else who could help me. That was nice. So I stood over by the parakeet cage waiting for someone to help me and finally an employee by the name of Angel came and assisted me. He was very pleasant. The lady that was rude to me, Aaron is actually supposed to be a manager there and is setting a poor example by not greeting the customers and being rude to them when they approach her for help. I hope Scott who is the general manager of the store does something about this. By the way Petco just raised the price on their parakeets to $48.95, while everyone else in town that I checked with is selling their parakeets for $28.95. I don't know what's up with that but I still bought three parakeets when I was...
Read morePetsmart is closer to my home but you guys are on the way back from my children’s school, this makes it easier to stop in having less children to run errands and complete a shopping trip. Due to having 5 animals I find myself stopping in a few times a week at your store. Every time I am in need of crickets it’s always a nuisance to ask for them. Employees always worry about not having enough or a delay in delivery issue. Well today was enough and I will not return to this location ever again. The manager on this mornings duty made the employee feel terrified to even want to sell me 60 crickets as if it were going to cause their own animals on site to not get Fed. Here’s an idea for management, make sure your animals on site have their food already set to the side so customers are not made to feel like their a nuisance or problem for asking to purchase what they need and in turn your employees not coming off as unhelpful or condescending. 50 is the cap is what he told her and I find that petsmart will sell you 51+ at a discounted price and their is no cap. Convenience and Service over being a nuisance is what I’ll be going for in the future. Such a small issue can cause such a huge impact to someone’s view of your...
