To their credit, DSG has at least two or three games (MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokémon) prominently featured in their store. So “games”, plural, is fitting. But it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting. Most game stores I’ve been to have a large selection (dozens) of board games, miniatures, card games, accessories, etc. However, what DSG does, they do well. They have tournaments a few times a week that are across multiple formats (many shops only doing standard or modern), they are super knowledgeable about their product, and for what my opinion is worth, it’s been clean and well organized when I’ve visited. As a new MTG player, Daniel took time to walk me through the basics and he even helped with the construction of my first deck. I’ve gone back multiple times since and built my collection almost exclusively with DSG. I understand that sometimes he gets distracted, but if you could see how many people he has to deal with at once, and how long it takes an average customer to choose items/ask questions, you’d understand why he has to split his attention. I’ve seen customers take over an hour of his time (myself included) in order to purchase multiple cards. He’s extremely knowledgeable and you’re almost always guaranteed that he’ll know what they have in stock (which is tens of thousands of cards in hundreds of boxes in the back room). I’ve seen comments saying he’s unhelpful, but he’s run to the back dozens of times in a single card-buying session for me in order to see if they had any inventory that he may have missed on his first pass, so I have the feeling those comments are untrue. The crowd is typically friendly (to the point of being a little much at times, but they mean well) and will always offer to help new players make card-buying decisions and learn different formats for different games. Additionally, they do card pricing better than any other shop in Tulsa (IMO). They sell lower and give a larger amount of cash/store credit than a lot of shops I’ve seen. Overall, I’ve had an excellent experience here, and should the day come that they decide to have a full-blown board game/miniatures selection....I would not like to be a certain other game store near 71st and Mingo....because DSG may just put them out...
Read moreI went to dragonslayer, in Tulsa, on multiple occasions. This store is normally very clean, and mostly looks organized, it’s changed a few different times on the lay out. I have been right after it opened and since then it has slowly declined. Somethings have changed for the good but things have gotten worse. I like to competitively play magic and sometimes events are held here so I compete, however at one event I attended I noticed a foul odor of a competitive player l, and I discretely said something to the store owner, who brushed it off. It was so disturbing I could hardly focus on the games, and multiple people made complaints to the judges at the REL competitive level event. We were brushed off. (It was terrible, I know the store doesn’t control peoples showering or smells but they could have asked them to take care of it) this had to be my worst experience by far out of shops I’ve visited across the country. On another visit I was there for some casual level event and the treatment I had was out of character for the usual interaction I have with Daniel, I brushed it off thinking it was due to a busy day, customers and people have bad days sure….and then it happened to me again when it wasn’t very busy. I asked for some specific cards for a competitive list and Daniel looked at me, laughed, turned and walked away. I was trying to buy cards… and went to help customers who approached after I did. Once the customers were resolved, I asked if I could look for such cards and I had just a few for a list, and I was again shrugged off. I again, went to Dragonslayer, this time with a group of friends, to again play some casual magic and spend some money at a store I hadn’t visited in awhile. This time I had such a poor experience (again with Daniel), I haven’t visited this store after this including not playing in events to avoid...

Even when you’re a separate person paying separately for the pre-release they don’t allow you and your partner to buy separate boxes. I’m not gonna argue with someone in their store, but that’s trash.
This is the last place I go to for cards and I definitely don’t wanna play here, especially when it smells like body odor constantly.
They take advantage of people wanting to do the pre-releases because they know it’s limited everywhere and just play power trips.
They also scalp people on prices. They’re always trying to get one over on you for singles that decrease in value on TCG if you don’t call them on it.
Not to mention that they always have horrible attitudes and customer service. Who wants to go to a place that is supposed to be inclusive for someone to be rude to you?
The biggest reason this irritates me is because I am my own person. I am not my boyfriend’s property. It’s very discriminatory to not sell to me just because I’m with him when I have my own payment. If it were two men that were friends that walked in, is that how you would treat them? No. You wouldn’t say “Oh you guys walked in together so you can’t both buy one.” I don’t know if they have a problem with women but absolutely trash location.
I can honestly say I will never step foot in this store again. I don’t know how their rating is 4.3 except for men that apparently don’t get discriminated against for playing games and...
