My husband and I were craving a good burger and a beer so we opted for Fat Guys. The lady behind the counter was on the phone taking orders when we walked in so plenty of time to peruse the menu. I was a little disappointed there weren't more options of burger add-ons (fried egg was what I was hoping for) but nbd. I ordered the fat & juicy stuffed with American and he ordered the Spicy fried pickle burger. We opted to split a large order of fries with 2 dipping sauces - the roasted garlic aioli and parmesan peppercorn. The food came out right at 30 minutes and it seemed a bit too long with only 2 other tables occupied and our order for a couple burgers and some fries. My burger was pretty good. I feel like it was missing seasoning a little bit but could have just been me. I still enjoyed it and ate most of it. I would ask for more toppings next time, the onions were sparse and cut very thinly which took away their crunch. It was a big burger and I will definitely opt for a smaller burger next time, it was just a bit too much for me to finish. My husband really liked his, said the flavor was perfect and his only complaint was that it may have had too much cheese as it was a messy burger and the toppings made it somewhat soggy. When he mentioned that I agreed and I felt like they needed to toast the buns more (or toast them at all, I forgot to check if they were toasted), to caramelize them and keep the toppings from soaking into it. The fries were the real winner. They were hot, crispy, and there was a TON of them. They are a lot like the fries we love at Wing Stop but definitely crispier than those tend to be even when we order them from there 'well done.' (Which isn't really 'well done' just makes the fries less bendy and a little more crunchy) The standout was the dipping sauces for the fries. The garlic aioli was so good I added it to my burger. It was great! Side notes: -We should have shared a regular size fry. We definitely didn't need a lunch bag full of fries that we got with the large. I think a regular size would have been enough after seeing other people's orders, especially since I ate so many of them I couldn't finish my burger. They need to update their website to list which locations have alcohol. The site just said select locations have adult drinks, but this was one that did not. They said because they are close to a school? Have never heard that before and there are places closer to my kids' school that serve alcohol so I don't know. -They have the dreaded tip prompt when you pay which made no sense. You order from a person at the counter and then go pick up your food when they call your name. Everything is served in paper bags regardless of if you are eating there or to go. The drinks are self service. I'm not sure what the heck we are supposed to tip for but my husband felt obliged and left one anyway. He commented that he only did because the woman was standing there looking at him as he paid. I hate guilt tipping, and especially when not in response to a service. 🤷🏼♀️ they don't have Coke or Pepsi products but instead had craft soda. We ordered waters and didn't try it so no review on those. Maybe next time. Overall we decided on a 7 out of 10. Not the best but still good. The garlic aioli was so good I took what I had left home and added it to a sandwich the...
Read moreWe stopped by and tried the fried pickle burger, fries, chili, and nuggets, and while we wanted to love it, the experience was kind of a miss. Service was great though! • Burger: We gave it a 7/10. It was sloppy and gluttonous in a fun way—definitely a messy treat kind of meal. If you’re into bold, over-the-top burgers, it might be your thing. • Chili: Unfortunately, this one really missed the mark for us—4/10. It was strangely dry and watery at the same time, like the beef may have been mixed with soy filler. Only a few bites had actual beef chunks. It was greasy, overly salty, and had no depth or real flavor—more like meat crumbles in broth than a hearty chili. • Fries: A 5/10. They were super salty—so much so that they were tough to finish, even though they had potential. Texture-wise, they felt a bit hollow inside. • Nuggets: 6/10. These were clearly homemade, and the cook on them was solid. They just didn’t have much flavor. Boyfriend also noted a slightly fishy taste, which he mentioned again as I wrote this— so I noted it.
Afterward, both of us had sore mouths from all the salt—his gums felt roughed up, and the roof of my mouth did too. It’s a bummer because we were rooting for this place. There’s definitely effort in the presentation and creativity, but overall it just didn’t land for us. He said he’d go back for a burger. I’d...
Read moreWe usually love fat guys. It's typically our favorite guilty pleasure burger place. They're burgers are usually super juicy and fresh and flavors are just delicious. I usually get the spicy fried pickle burger but I really wanted to try and put my own together this time. I chose the fat and juicy burger, the one stuffed with cheese, then added bacon, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms with a little Mayo and their awesome garlic aoli. You have to pay extra for all the add-ons so you expect to at least see a good bit on there but besides the bacon and sauce I barely got any onions or mushroom. The burger was unfortunately over done so the meat didn't taste the best and was pretty gray. I wound up having to just eat it with a knife and fork. That might just be the case with the stuffed burger but still disappointing. Of course the fries are always great but we asked for garlic aoli for a dipping sauce and they gave us honey mustard instead. We really want to still love this place but it seems like every time we come back in (usually months in between) they keep getting slightly worse and...
