Our experience here was horrible. The gravesite sales representative did not know what she was doing. I don’t blame her for her inexperience but it seems to me that the supervisors or managers did not train her well or the staff. The first mistake was that we had an area marked out where we would like our fathers grave which we went over in two different appointments/ visits. After we already paid for the spot we had to come back to confirm the grave site and this time they did not have our originally agreed spot marked off but 4 other spots marked off scattered around the spot we original agreed on. If agreed on the section/ spot and paid for it we shouldn’t have to choose from the 4 spots that are given after the fact. Now that we have chosen a spot and marked it off with the groundskeeper who actually knows which spots are open and available (which sales representatives should know if they are clearly selling spots to customers, they shouldn’t have to ask the grounds keeper if it is open or not, they should know. Insufficient training from supervisor). Day of the funeral we get to the cemetery with the casket and they have the wrong spot dug up. They are making excuses about how they have to wait till tomorrow to dig up the right grave spot because there are two other graves they have to do before ours. Until we tell them that there are, Chinese customs and traditions that need to be met so the casket and vault can go into the ground, did they finally dig up the right grave. After all these mistakes the office manager or supervisor did not even compensate or reduce the price for the mistakes. Not sure if people who work in this industry have any hospitality training but this funeral home had zero except for offering coffee or water. Overall I wouldn’t even give this funeral home a 1 star they...
Read moreI was very surprised. I had done my research before our trip back east. Studied the website fully for my trip planning. Mom had asked me while we were vacationing back east to please lay flowers out on her moms grave. We had a very limited window on Sunday to accomplish this but it would make an old woman happy to see her mom's plot revived with color for a season since we all moved west 25 years ago. I was a child when she was burried in 1985 and had no memory of where she was laid out. I had the plot number, section number and grave number. None of this was helpful at all. I called the 24/7 service line at 1:30 pm on a Sunday. No answer and went to a call center. No help whatsoever was given first call, just a we'll have someone call you tomorrow. That is not what 24/7 assistance is. No way to decifer their crazy plot placement and rows. One hour later I had to retreat from looking and change trip plans to come back when someone claims they can help me later. With all the technology we possess today it seems inconceivable to me there is no way to navigate this cemetery without a human helping. Every burial is a matter of public record and visually accessible to all the public. Who needs privacy that constrains one from visiting their relatives??? Unacceptable. When I tell you the plot numbering and lettering system is undeciferable I mean it. Me and my wife were more confused when we left. I had no idea that this sort of stupid could bleed into the 21st century. Fix your website, it is lying. Dont correct people who know how to read what you have posted as your operating policy. Put the entire cemetery on a PDF downloadable link and offer a solution to what I know is a commonly reported issue. Get you act together. These negative and avoidable circumstances linger in the memory of the...
Read moreEdit: Scott, I've sent 3 emails to that address over the past several weeks and haven't gotten a response.
This is a challenging review to write. Valley Forge Memorial Gardens is a beautiful place, but working with them on ordering the expensive memorials for our deceased loved ones has been very difficult. The team has gotten the dates of birth/death wrong multiple times and continuously asked us to approve/pay for an incorrect memorial design – even after we found the errors and asked them to update. In addition, they continue to try to get us to approve and pay for the wrong memorial color as well - even after (incorrectly) assuring us multiple times that the color would match that of the previously deceased family members in the same plot. How strange to continue to get these two very critical pieces of information so wrong even after we caught the errors. I had reached out to management via email to explain the issues and our frustration and ask for his support in getting the memorials corrected but did not...
