UPDATE A MONTH LATER: I’m STILL staining towels after my shower. I’ve had this exact color done in my hair before. It’s what I used for years (albeit a different brand) so I understand that some washing out is normal with a redder hair color. This is a month later and it’s STILL turning my white towels orange when I get out of the shower. I couldn’t go to the pool for weeks because the second my hair got wet I would get embarrassing orange drops dripping down my skin. So not only was this a terrible cut and color that was 100% not what was discussed or booked, but now it’s ruining things at home and costing me time this summer.
So incredibly disappointed with my services. I booked an appointment for a cut and Multi-Tone Color, really wanting some fun dimensions to my hair. I have thick hair so I typically buy a color and developer from Sally Beauty and do my hair myself. But I decided to pay to get it done this time so I could get more than what I can do myself. I talked with the stylist about what different colors I like. All I got was an all over color. Then the cut-she asked about adding long layers in, which I typically get regardless. Except I realized when I left that when she added the layers in, she took some off of the overall length but only in certain spots, so now I’m left with an uneven haircut. She didn’t style it at all, just a blow dry. And again, I have thick hair so without taking a flat iron to it, it’s just awkwardly big. A few times she took some color removing pads to my skin and said I was good to go. When I got to my car, my skin was drenched in color. My entire right ear was red from the dye, both inside and out, I was literally scooping gobs of color out from inside of my ear. The left side of my face had a streak about 1” wide and 4” long of just color. There were several large spots on the front of my neck, and the entire back of my neck was covered. I literally had to sit in my car for 20 minutes scrubbing at my skin with the baby wipes I had in my car. When I do my hair myself my skin is NEVER that bad. Then I got home and my daughter asked what happened to my back. Turns out there are red spots all over my shirt, now ruining that shirt, which I really loved. I’m disappointed that Ulta would hire a stylist so incredibly careless and not mindful of what the client wants. And I’m even more disappointed that I spent far more money than I ever do on myself for hair services and was left with something so much worse than what I could have done myself. Highly recommend NOT going to this salon unless what you’re having done is incredibly simple, and even then, it wouldn’t be...
Read moreI went in to this branch of Ulta to get a full highlight and cut. I had a very clear picture on my phone of what I wanted. The girl working on my hair acted like she was completely capable of the look and gave me no indication that it was too complicated for her skillset. It was a balayage. Very common.
She sped through doing my hair as fast as she could, flinging big gobs of hair dye all over the place and insisting on doing 2 colors at once while completely ignoring the 3rd color. She even admitted she was using that method b/c it was faster. After dying it, she quickly cut it into the long bob I had requested. She must have known she did a terrible job b/c she didn't even check w/ me about the length or cut like she explicitly said she was going to. Instead, she immediately turned my chair away from the mirror, blowdried my hair, and elaborately curled it. When she turned me back around it looked alright. Not like the picture at all, but not bad either.
Turns out the styling was hiding all the errors. I went home and washed my hair and then looked in the mirror. Instead of a beautiful fall balayage, I had literal vertical zebra stripes. Super dark brown and super light blonde, no gradual fade. Then I had horizontal stripes where my roots were very dark and then it went right into light blonde. Again, no fade. The cut was also done haphazardly and lazily. I have chunks of hair that are weird lengths and nothing is even. Some places it looks like she just forgot to finish.
After this horrible experience, I used the Ulta website to send a complaint stating either I needed the astronomical cost of $305 refunded so I could afford to fix it, or I needed someone else (not the original stylist) there to fix it free of charge. They replied that my concerns were forwarded to this local branch and someone would contact me shortly. It's been OVER A WEEK and no one has even tried to rectify this. I'm embarrassed to go out in public b/c I look super trashy and like my 7 yr old nephew did this to me while I was sleeping. And I can't justify going somewhere else and spending hundreds more to get it fixed.
Extremely unprofessional and a total ripoff....
Read moreI recently booked a Signature Curl Cut and a scalp treatment with Lena, and I couldn’t be more impressed! This was my first time receiving a service from her, and she was absolutely phenomenal.
Before beginning, Lena evaluated my scalp and thoroughly explained the purpose of the scalp treatment. Together, we decided that it wasn’t necessary for me at that time. I really appreciated her honesty and professionalism—she wasn’t trying to upsell me just for the sake of it, which immediately built my trust.
Throughout the haircut, Lena was attentive and collaborative. She truly listened to what I wanted and checked in with me multiple times to make sure I was happy with the length, layers, and overall progress. Her attention to detail was amazing.
The shampoo was so relaxing I nearly fell asleep—Lena was both gentle and thorough, and she took extra care to make sure no water ran down my neck or back, which I’ve often experienced elsewhere.
As someone with 3B/C curls, I’ve struggled to find a stylist who truly understands curly hair outside of a DevaCurl stylist. Lena exceeded my expectations. She not only used the right amount of product, but she also applied it section by section with care and intention—something I rarely see.
I’m so excited to return to Lena for future services. She’s a gem, and I highly recommend her to anyone with curls looking for a thoughtful, skilled stylist who genuinely cares about...
