Resort Style — Local services in Venice

Apparently they have more business than they can handle so don't care how they treat their customers.

We have bought several shirts here in the past and got one for our son this Christmas. He liked it and asked us to get a couple more. We spent 30-45 minutes looking for his size. We found two and headed to the checkout.

By then the store was getting pretty crowded. We had to ask several people who were just standing in front of the checkout to let us through.

Once we were finally at the checkout the woman said the store was crowded and that my wife (who was wearing a sweatshirt she had bought in that store) had to leave. Ummm. We are checking out. Nope. Too crowded. Leave. OK. Kick out paying customers while letting the browsers stay. We did leave, leaving our unpaid for items on the counter.

A large group of six left as we did and said the woman had been rude to them in the past as well.

We like to support small businesses, but...

We were visiting family in Venice and enjoying the downtown shops etc. This shop stood out to me bc it's decorated very nicely and there was the nicest woman working. She was so helpful, my elderly aunt is quite a large woman and has trouble trying on clothing etc. Well, Dawna (I think that was her name) was SO helpful - she brought my aunt a few different outfits to try on, and was encouraging and very honest about how the clothing looked, which put my aunt at ease - and - my aunt ended up buying a top and a skirt. There was really fun disco music playing in the store as well, I can't remember being so impressed with a $10 tourist shop, however, we will be back to visit Dawna again the next time we're...

We came in today, for their $10 storewide selection on apparel, and ended up purchasing 4 shirts. Upon receipt, we were charged for 5 shirts. When we returned to the store (moments after leaving the store), the employee working told us “You bought 5 shirts”, so we showed her our bag with only 4 shirts. The employee told us that we could just take another shirt with us but I explained I wanted a refund - we eventually got one. Seems like a very shady business - it’s hard for me to believe that she thought we had 5 shirts when we were the only ones in the store and it did not seem accidental as she was not surprised nor willing to refund the shirt...
