After nearly 20 years of being a loyal customer, my wife and I experienced the absolute worst retail experience of our lives.
I procured her engagement ring elsewhere, but we purchased her wedding ring with Daniel's. We had Daniel's mate them together, sized, tighted, replated...the works. To our knowledge at the time, had it done right.
We have had her ring repaired by Daniel's 3 times in our 7 year marriage, each time experiencing a nightmare. At one point, they lost it.
Our last experience destroyed Daniel's reputation forever with us.
A day after having Daniel's clean her ring, a diamond fell out. It happens, I get it.
When we discussed having her ring repaired with Brian at Daniel's, he told us they were going to replace the diamond, tighten the prongs, add material to the bottom because it was worn thin and replate it. He quoted us up to $300. We agreed to have him send the ring to their jewelry repair tech.
The quote came back nearly a week later and was adjusted to $770 for the same work. I wasn't happy about the extent of the misquote, but agreed to have the ring properly restored if they would make me a good deal on another piece I was interested in. Brian spoke with Victor and they agreed, saying the ring would be done around January 17th (if memory serves me well) and would order the other piece I was interested in.
I called Victor February 13th (nearly a month later) for an update, hoping to recieve it for Valentine's Day and was told we wouldn't get it back for another week. And they never ordered the other piece. I ensured my concern for their lack of communication was understood.
Some of the store staff did give their best efforts, namely Johnny, to smooth things over and offer apologies and a few free gifts. I did appreciate that.
I recieved a call a few days later stating that jeweller now needed to replace the head of the ring, but would come at no extra charge.
When I finally recieved the call that the ring was ready, I went to the store, glad to see this situation come to a close. Boy, was I wrong.
The ring looked terrible. The head was crooked by about 15 degrees. There were noticeable voids in the solder work. The material addition to the bottom of the ring that was charged for was never even done. And when I expressed my concerns, I was met with the reply by an anonymous employee "It doesn't look THAT crooked, I can hardly notice it". And the other piece wasn't near what I had ordered. That one was now written off.
I refused her ring, then visited the store the following day to speak with Victor directly. We discussed our long-time relationship and that now I felt offended by the situation thus far. I felt hurried and brushed off by the encounter. In the end, he promised another week.
I finally recieved the ring the following week, barely in a condition acceptable enough to put this horrible chapter behind us.
Our original agreement was that I would pay about $270 down (once again, if memory serves) upon recieving the ring and the rest of the $770 would be applied to my Daniel's account.
While inspecting the ring, Victor and I discussed how we could smooth the situation over and keep us as valued customers. I mentioned our agreed down payment ammount to which he replied "Don't worry about it, I'll take care of it for you, just take the ring".
About a week later I recieved the bill, and sure enough, the full $770 was applied, with taxes, fees and interest, bringing the total to around $860. I called corporate and got nowhere.
I am now stuck paying a nearly $900 dollar bill.
I've never been a fan of Daniel's Jewelers overwhelming marketing campaigns, overbearing and constant phone calls ON the payment due date and detachment from corporate - to store- to jewelry repair tech structure, but when I wanted to make a purchase, they were always there to help.
If you want a lesson in how to get taken, then thrown to the dogs no matter your loyalty, this is the place for you.
If you are looking for a jeweler that is not going to take a $#!t on your head,...
Read morePurchased a ROLEX for $14,000 last December right before Christmas from this location. Bought WITH insurance through Daniel’s Jewelry, so you’d think, considering they never send or establish a policy with you — the client. Fast forward to June and a few items of mine were burglarized including this watch. Filed a police report with all of the details including the amount, the items, and all of the details including details of FORCED ENTRY which is what their policy requires. Took a copy to Daniel’s and Gina (manager) told me everything would be handled, the insurance would cover it and that she’d only seen ONE instance where an item wasn’t covered but because I had proper documentation it would be resolved. A month later their third party insurance company (Securian Financial, who has different numbers that you have to jump through to even get ahold of somebody) sent me a letter saying my claim was denied for lack of evidence. Mind you, an entire police report with details and everything. Back and forth for WEEKS with Securian no luck. Back and forth with Daniel’s Jewerly and no luck. They say “oh nothing to do with us” even though management in their stores say they’ve seen situations in the past where items are taken care of through Daniel’s if I keep “pushing the issue.” This came from the mouths of Daniel’s Jewelry staff. Reached out to Daniel’s corporate office and their district manager Reema B. is quick to call me a liar, disregard my issue and laugh over the phone with no regard for financial situations. An hour conversation of Reema comparing my situation to a million other situations that are irrelevant to MINE. Rambling about insurance for cars, homes, etc evading my concern with DANIEL’S JEWELRY and MY claim. Quick to hang up the phone and ignore calls though. They still expect me to pay for their loan though right? Correct. They’ll call my phone for their payment but won’t call me to resolve this situation. They will be quick to offer you financing through their own independent financial institution but choose a D-grade third party insurance company to “secure” your purchases because that’s their loophole to evade responsibility. They take zero accountability for their clients and refuse to advocate for those who put money in their pockets. Save yourself the headache and shop somewhere else for better customer service and peace of mind knowing you’ll be taken care of elsewhere. If I don’t receive a resolution by January 2024 then there will be actions taken. If I could give zero...
Read moreDaniel's Jewler is one of my favorite Jewelry Stores. Just to name a couple of people that have helped me are John, Victor, Gina and a few others. Unfortunately I had a bit of a mishap a couple months ago and thought I was gonna have to take my business elsewhere but Thankfully we were able to come to a understanding and Daniel's rectified their wrong doing. They replaced a beautiful gold and diamond bracelet that unfortunately had a bad clasp and had come undone from my wrist several times until the last incident and this time it was lost for good. I had taken it back for repairs on 4 separate occasions. Each time they tinkered with it but never fixed it. When reported to the store and was also provided with a police report I was told that they were very sorry but they were not responsible.....keep in mind I bought the insurance on it when we purchased it just 7 weeks before. After a few phone calls and filing a report of the incident along with the issues that I had with this bracelet it was decided that Daniel's would replace the bracelet. When I recieved the call that Daniel's would be replacing it I was elated. I believe it had a LOT to do with the fact that I am a LOVER of beautiful jewlery and I LOVE spending money on BEAUTIFUL things that I will one day pass them down to both of my BEAUTIFUL daughters!!!!! But in all actuality I really dont care why they did it just as long as they did....
