If you’re a card collector/seller, chances are you ask yourself the same questions every time you’re about to walk into a shop. How bad will they try to rip me off? I wonder what the trade value percentage is? What will I get offered on my card or collection I’m wanting to sell? My wife and I drove from Savannah GA to see the Braves open the stadium in a WIN against DBACKS in the 10th. With time to kill (my secret plan all along) went to Cards HQ. We walked in and took in the clean, stylish and beautiful card store that was in front of us. The amount of hobby boxes for baseball cards and the product that was offered made me contemplate ways to tell my wife why we had to buy these great boxes and that our mortgage can be late this month. đŸ€”đŸ˜‰ Then we walked to the single cards that are displayed in a fashion I enjoyed and found easier to view, vertically. Prices on the cards were great, and the reviews I looked at that said otherwise are clearly horrible competitive tactics. Oh, I did find one card that was priced higher than the last 4 comps listed on eBay and when i brought to their attention, price was matched. So I get the bright idea to bring a box of graded and a box of other cards that were numbered, auto and stars with me so that I am able to trade and sell if HQ was interested. I asked an employee if they buy/trade and was told yes but it would be just a minute till they could get to me. A whole 5 minutes later I was introduced to a couple of employees that were very respectable with my collection as they picked for the cards that they wanted. (We all know the guys that look at your stuff and trash talk or make it seem like you have nothing they need till they make an offer on the same garbage they just criticized.) A few minutes into them picking, a gentleman walked up (think his name was Carter.)and looked at a few cards and said he was interested in buying all of them. Of course I asked the pay off value and the trade value. Are you ready for this? He told me 70% and 80%. If you have owned a business that’s brick and mortar then you know in most cases 30% is usually a standard percentage to keep doors open and a honest way to do business. So the manager and I do the dance back and forth four times and handshakes. I walked out of that establishment with a look that my wife described as “kid like” because I couldn’t believe how easy, non confrontational or not being emotionally exhausted with negotiations after selling my cards. Thank you to the guys that helped us have a really great trip. Your attitude and respect my wife and I received was top notch and will always make your shop our first and most likely only stop while in town. Also, the young woman working that day was very helpful and noticeably cared about her job and that business.

I’ve wanted to go to the Cards HQ store ever since it was created. I followed its journey on YouTube and finally was able to visit the store on 9/27. I drove over five hours from Kentucky. I walked around the store for about 30 minutes before finding the card I wanted. I waited patiently for someone to help me as there were a few people in front of me. When helped, the gentleman was quite nice and complimented me on selecting the card I wanted. That’s when things turned sour. Once I got to the counter the cashier informed me that the card “might” have sold online. I had to stand at the register for over five minutes while he checked in the back. When he came back, he said it had sold. What was so upsetting was that he said “that happens sometimes” and then turned his back to me. I was totally prepared to come back to the store and pick up other items on my way home, that didn’t happen. I thought Geoff Wilson had built a juggernaut of a store but it’s actually worse than most sports card shops. It has great aesthetics, but customer service is quite lacking. With so many employees, don’t you think that as part of the SOP (standard operating procedure) would be to have someone immediately pull listed cards that sell online from the cases? Why didn’t the cashier ask “is there anything else you were looking at
we’ve be happy to offer you a discount on another card for your trouble.” I would have totally purchased another card. I hope I actually hear from Geoff and not a bot/canned response. I want to give the store another chance but canned responses don’t cut it anymore. My collector dollars can be spent through so many verticals. I hope someone with Cards HQ takes my review seriously. By the way, the attached photo is me getting the card with the employee from the case.

*** Updated Review**** So, I recently bought the Hit Parade Straw Hat Edition Hobby Box from Card HQ for $75, and let me tell you, I was blown away. Not by the amazing value, but by the sheer audacity of what was inside. I opened the box, heart racing, only to find a single graded card
worth about a dollar. Yep. One whole dollar. At this point, I started checking the box for hidden treasure, maybe a Devil Fruit I could eat to gain the ability to reverse my purchase. Then Card HQ responded to my review, saying, “Actually, that card sold for $45 on eBay!” Sounds great! Except for one tiny issue, that sale happened 18 days after I bought the box. So unless I suddenly became a time traveler and didn’t know it, that price wasn’t relevant when I made my purchase. For context, before grading, this card was worth about $2. Grading costs $14, bringing the total to $16. Even if we get generous and slap on a 33% markup, we land at $21.28—which, in case anyone at Card HQ needs a calculator, is still nowhere near $75. But sure, let’s just use future market trends to justify it. Maybe I should invest in stocks based on next month’s prices while I’m at it? Look, I get that mystery boxes are a gamble, but this was less “high-stakes excitement” and more “Congratulations! You played yourself.” There’s no reasonable justification for this kind of return. I’ll be covering this experience in an upcoming video, but for now, my final verdict: I do NOT recommend this product. Unless, of course, you enjoy donating money in exchange for disappointment.

A Hidden Gem for Card Enthusiasts: Review

If you're a fan of trading cards—whether it's sports cards, PokĂ©mon, Magic: The Gathering, or just about any collectible—you owe it to yourself to check out [Card Shop Name]. Nestled in [Location/City], this shop combines a deep passion for the hobby with a welcoming, community-oriented vibe that sets it apart from the big-box or online-only retailers.

Walking into [Card Shop Name], you’re immediately greeted by the warm scent of fresh packs and a wave of nostalgia. The store is neatly organized, with separate sections for each type of card: vintage baseball cards are displayed in glass cases near the front, newer NFL and NBA releases fill the shelves nearby, and the back section is a haven for TCG fans. PokĂ©mon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Magic players will find an extensive selection of singles, booster packs, and even sealed boxes—often at competitive prices.

One of the standout features of this shop is the staff. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just getting started, the employees are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to talk about cards. On my first visit, I came in looking for a few specific Magic cards to finish a deck. Not only did they help me track them down, but they also gave great advice about upcoming set releases and gameplay strategies. That level of engagement is rare and makes a huge difference.

The shop also caters to both casual fans and serious collectors. For those chasing high-value sports rookies or rare graded cards, [Card Shop Name] has a surprising array of slabs and high-end inventory. PSA-graded cards are available behind the counter, and they often rotate stock based on recent market trends. It’s the kind of place where you might walk in hoping for a $5 card and end up drooling over a pristine Michael Jordan rookie or a Charizard holo from the base set.

Another major plus is the community aspect. [Card Shop Name] regularly hosts events: Friday Night Magic, PokĂ©mon tournaments for younger fans, and even buy/sell/trade nights that bring in collectors of all ages. These events are well-run and foster a genuine sense of connection among local hobbyists. The shop even has a few tables set up for casual play or for folks to open boxes with friends. It’s a great atmosphere that encourages both competition and camaraderie.

Pricing is also reasonable. Booster packs and singles are priced in line with the market, and occasionally even a bit below. They also run occasional sales and promotions, particularly when new sets drop. The store buys cards, too—and they’re fair about it. You won’t get ripped off like you might at larger chain stores or online bulk buyers. The owner clearly knows the value of building trust with the customer base, and it shows.

In terms of inventory, there’s really something for everyone. Retro collectors will find joy in the vintage binders and throwback packs, while newer fans can grab the latest releases right off the shelves. Supplies like sleeves, binders, and top loaders are always in stock, and they also sell merch like card-themed shirts and playmats.

If there’s any downside, it’s that the shop can get crowded during peak hours or big release days—but honestly, that’s more a sign of how popular and loved this place is than a real negative.

In short, [Card Shop Name] is everything you want a local card shop to be: passionate, friendly, well-stocked, and community-driven. Whether you're hunting a grail card or just browsing for fun, this shop delivers a five-star...

Normally I try not to leave reviews that are negative. I was pretty upset about what took place. I went in there with my partner. Not sure if profiling was taking place. Took cards to trade or see what we can do. We looked around and we're excited. We were looking for help, not one person helped. Ok fine, busy. Then we went to see about trading cards or selling. Here is where we noticed the issue. Same card others were getting deals with, he was offered not interested or really hit below the belt, yet other individuals were offered more and given much more interest. I was standing in the background watching this. Then, once everything was said and done we went to get packs. Well, one person decided to help us after an hour. My partner asked about decks. They kept telling him to get other decks that he had no interest in. He ended up getting the deck he wanted. The guy takes the deck asks for a name and walked off with a snide remark. I still needed a deck. So I waited for someone else to help me. The guy who stopped to help and asked if we needed anything was amazing. He was shocked at the cards the other guys didn't take. He got a deck I wanted and a few other packs. He didn't take my deck right away either. He made sure it was the deck I wanted and spent time helping us. Once checking out, we started questioning to the store credit my partner got. He didn't get his store credit. Not sure why, the same guy with the snide comment checked us out, yet again more snide remarks. The guys grading his cards, seemed like they didn't want his business. More things happened, but i think that's enough. I loved the store. It was amazing. The layout, the tables for games and so on. Most of the staff, I'm questioning. Only 1 person was top notch. Never in my life would I witness this behavior. I was saying how friendly the community would be. I was getting my partner into cards to play. That was not the impression I wanted him to face like that. Only 1 person in the entire store treated him with a respect as a person. If he still continues to work there, I'll only do transactions with him. If he's not working, I'm not going. The store is amazing. Most of the staff weren't. The ones we dealt with and the ones who ignored us. You don't have to be nice to me, but ya don't need to profile either. Especially one with cancer. He was getting time outside to get his mind off of the crap he is dealing with. I do reccomend this store. Staff, needs to do better. The one guy who helped us, you...
