If you read nothing else in this review: avoid this run-down hotel, it needs to lose its Hyatt branding. You can save yourself a lot of money by staying at the Baymont, and the experience will be the same.
When we first checked in, the first room we were issued was filthy, the phone was broken (couldn't call the front desk), the door didn't fit in the frame (you had to ram your shoulder into it to get it to close), the couch was broken, the air conditioner was broken (squealing and not cooling the room), several cabinets were broken and would fall when opened, and multiple lights were burnt out. We went back to the front desk, and they moved us to another room with nearly the same story going on. Multiple lights were burnt out, air conditioning was louder than it should have been if it were maintained properly, and the couch was broken. We were staying for a week and intending to hike through the Great Smokies, so having some place to sit and relax at the hotel was actually a big deal. We called Hyatt Corporate (who absolutely didn't care, they only offered to call the front desk at our hotel), and the general manager showed us two more rooms. Realizing they were all in the same condition and there was no recourse to leave and get our money back, we took the least disgusting of the four.
The woman who was with us during the room swap commented that all pullout couches are like what we experienced in the four rooms we reviewed, but I disagree: not all pullout sofas are like that, these are broken; the foam is shot and needs replacing, I shouldn't feel the frame of the couch digging into my spine when I sit. I have a pullout couch at home and it doesn't do that.
It's obvious that no thought goes into how a room will be used. The suite we have can sleep four, but has enough dishes for two. Despite having a sink and soap to wash dishes, we pulled out several dirty dishes and there's nothing to wash them with (so we used wads of paper towels), there was nothing to cook food on in the oven (had to request baking sheets and buy aluminum foil from Wal-Mart), there's dust on everything. The shower has two body washes, a conditioner, but no shampoo, which made sense when there were four decaf coffees and no regular coffees in the hospitality basket in our room. This is simply not caring enough to do the job right. The refrigerator's ice maker is broken (I have one which uses the same mechanism at home, so I'm aware down is on, up is off), but this one never produced ice. The bedsheets are ripped and should have been thrown away. The blackout curtains were not seated properly in the track, and it's a simple fix that housekeeping should have taken care of, I took care of all three windows myself. When staff says a room is clean, the lead housekeeper on duty should go and physically inspect the room before making it clean in the system; it's clear from the condition of all 4 rooms we saw that this is not happening.
I'm not convinced this hotel has maintenance. Simple things like a closet being off its tracks but not put back, a door handle falling off the bathroom door .... anyone with basic handyman experience should be able to take care of these things cheaply and effectively, yet here we are.
I'll let the photos speak for themselves save for one: the front door lock. This lock does not actually seat properly, meaning the door does not lock and the security latch is not screwed down properly. These photos are all from the same room, but every room we've seen has been in this condition.
We were told the hotel is being renovated next month, I've heard this "Oh shoot, ya missed it by one month" excuse before. Based on the nightly prices being charged for a hotel several miles out of Atlanta, this seems like business as usual, I would not expect a renovation anytime soon.
There's so much wrong with this hotel I literally can't fit it all in. But check the other negative reviews, this hotel responds the same to everyone and does nothing.
Congrats, you convinced me to end my relationship with...
Read moreCame here for a 5 night birthday vacation, I booked my stay a month or so in advance for my total of about $840 after taxes and fees arrived at the hotel was told I had to pay $1085 for a $50 a night insurance fee…but since I rode 6 hours I paid, why wasn’t this number presented to me a month or so ago when I booked? No where was a $50 a night insurance fee added to my nightly cost. Came to the room, everything was great then I realize one of my lights was broken and the shower door doesn’t close. All is fine, I stay my nights with no complaints, on the app it states to place orders for in house items and kitchen restock tried and they tell me I had to come down stairs for my items because house keeping is not longer available. Which okay fine, then on night 4 I decide I want to visit the “H bar” to try the food and enjoy the bar because it went from being open everyday to now just open on the weekend ..so I went down stairs to try their most popular burger and I went down stairs asking about the restaurant and they looked at me like I was crazy..saying their isn’t a restaurant in the hotel. I also asked for house keeping 2 days in a row and neither times did house keeping come, so everyday i had to go downstairs to get trash bags which they refused to give me, towels , wash cloths, tissue etc, then bought food thinking I would cook just to find out the appliances do not work. For my entire stay I ignored the minor inconveniences but enough is enough … for $1085 this is ridiculous… I would have never chose this hotel had I known all these things would occur… and the only reason why I am giving it 2 stars is because of the location If I had I not bought tissue , paper towels , trash bags and other essential items I would have been without essentials my entire stay … I was only willing to pay the amount I paid at this hotel for its amenities Yet none of them were here except the pool which was so cold it wasn’t even safe to swim in unless you wanted to be sick. Would I return? Absolutely not … would I recommend ? Absolutely not. If you want a one night stay in a half way decent hotel by all means choose this one but for a actual stay longer than a single night …don’t even...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE upon arrival and checking in everything seemed great. Everything with the room was what it appeared to be in the pictures. However, the shower handle fell off when turning the shower on. The water does not get very warm at all. That is the only bad I can say about the room… HOWEVER, when we woke up and went downstairs for the breakfast (which was only so so) we heard other guests talking, and mentioning cars being broken into. upon walking outside to check our vehicle we noticed 28 CARS WERE BROKEN INTO. Glass covered the parking lot. Cops strolled through going from car to car taking police reports. The officer we spoke with said this is a common thing for the Hyatt, that it is a once a month thing there. Hyatt, to no surprise, declined this officers words, but I believe the officer over the Hyatt just trying to protect there business. On top of all of it, the manager told us they had cameras but the quality was too bad to pick anything up, and then told the guest right behind us they did not have any cameras. Looking outside, there is not 1 single camera anywhere in the parking lot. So unless you like your car being broken into, and all your personal belongings thrown all in the parking lot I do not recommend staying here. As we were leaving, we noticed a gun laying in the road. We quickly got it in the possession of the officers, and it was identified as one of the other guests stolen guns. What seems to be a nice area of Atlanta, is just covered in crime and theft! The hotel did refund everyone who’s car were broken into, but said the company insurance would not cover anything. However, you could tell this was something common that they deal with, with how smoothly the manager carried on. Was definitely not their first rodeo with these thieves. The manager also was the first one to ever offer refunds because she knew insurance would not cover, which definitely leads me to believe the officer even more that they are called there quite often. I’m sure the Hyatt will find a way to block this review from showing up on their page, but if for some reason it does get seen…. DO NOT...
