While traveling this summer we stopped in Atlanta and played some escape rooms. At Ultimate Escape Game, we played Submerged and Amnesia on 06/02/17. This was our 62nd and 63rd escape rooms overall. I’m giving Ultimate Escape Game a 5-star review overall primarily based on Submerged. This game is now one of our favorite games.
The setting of Submerged was exceptionally well presented. The story and audio went well with the setting, therefore, making it a highly immersive environment. We might even call it a work of art. The props were extremely well done for the most part and there was minimal clutter. The number of people they advertise/recommend in the room is up to 7. We played with 4 people and would not want to do it with 7 but maybe 5 or 6 would work out well. Amnesia was a little simpler in set design but worked well with the story.
Submerged had a good story to gameplay connection and while we had some searching to do it wasn't too much. You must listen to the audio during the game. It is hysterical at times. A lot of the puzzles were unique and definitely memorable. The puzzles made sense in the room which was a delight. They managed not to hit any of our pet peeves which are red herrings, having to guess, need for prior knowledge, and dark rooms without alternative lighting (flashlights) so great job for not having issues in those areas!!!! Overall, we loved the game!
We found out that Amnesia had not been properly reset and we were running into a lot of problems with things not happening when they were supposed to. We managed to get out, but it wasn’t supposed to happen the way we did. The gamemaster was on top of it and promptly asked us what she could do to make it up. She offered a big discount on another game, but we sadly had no more time in Atlanta so we turned it down. That was excellent customer service on her part!
As far as the mechanics go in the rooms/business, they had a good game flow, great hint systems, a very attentive game master, and a great website!
Overall, we thought it was a...
Read moreI went a two weeks ago. For some background, I have worked at an escape room as well as have done almost all of the ones in GA and several out of state. This was my first time to Ultimate Escape Games (because I like to complete each companies escape rooms before moving on if possible). First off, the staff was not friendly at all. I understand not wanting to be some where but that felt extremely negative before we even got into the room. We got there exactly on time, had the wavers filled out ahead of time. We noticed that by the time we got into the room, they had the clock already going and it was two minutes gone before they even played the video. I looked at the time on my phone while the video was playing (after we had been left) and it was one minute past our game time, so I don't understand why that time was taken away from us in advance (Our game time was at the 40 minute mark, we were watching the video at the 41 minute mark). In amnesia, there is a white dresser that all 5 of us tried to open, but it was stuck. They told us at the 2 minute mark of the end of the game to pull it harder (it required quite a bit of force, so we had assumed it was a magnalock of some sort) , so by that time our fate was already sealed (as we had already solved everything else in the room that didn't involve that). I take issue with that because if something needs more force, then we need to be told ahead of time because the general rule is the two finger rule, or the "if a child couldn't do it don't do it" about force. Other than that, I actually enjoyed the clue flow of the room, as well as the effects and overall pacing of the room. Most of the clues and puzzles were well designed, however the rest of my party would not come back because of the...
Read moreMy family and I played Dead by Dawn Sunday afternoon. We were very disappointed in the room. First, we figured out the code for a lock in the first room, but the room was not set up correctly, so our count was incorrect; thus, the lock would not open. Our game guide had to give us the combination. In room two, there was a board which when set up would give us the code for another lock. That board did not work and our game guide gave us that code also. Also in that same room, there are some electronic buttons that need to be pressed in a certain order to open something. We had the right order, but still it would not work. Our game guide told us the button on one was touchy and did not work unless you pushed it in the lower left corner. Lastly, it did not feel like our guide was keeping up with us. Otherwise he would have seen we had things correct but the props were not working; yet, when we called he seemed not to know where we were in the process of escaping from the room and gave us clues to things we had already found. My husband and I do escape rooms monthly with a group of friends and this was a very poorly executed room. Also, I sent a message to the company expressing my concerns and they have yet to respond. We have no desire to go back. If it had been set up correctly, this would have been a really fun room, but w3e ended up just being frustrated as things were not working as they should. I'm not upset because we did not get out, though we might have had a better chance if things worked, but I am upset that it seemed like the room was against us from...
