It was Valentine’s Day and our 1st and 2nd choice had 2 hour wait times. Hopdoddy was empty (not a good sign). The restaurant has kind of a fast food vibe- it is cleaner and more comfortable than McDonalds. You enter on the left into a long “open” hallway. If there were a line, it would form down this hall. On the right, there is a large bar and plenty of comfortable booths and High top tables. At the end of the hall/walkway is the counter where you order your food. Everyone was very friendly. You can see the “burger chef” in the back cooking. I was excited to see the selection of Brussel Sprouts and ordered both flavors- $10 each (see photos). We ordered a side of Parmesan Truffle Fries $9. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich $11.50 and a burger- I can’t remember the name but it was $12. You don’t get any sides with your burger or chicken sandwich. Although they have what appears to be a full bar, I was told that they don’t make martinis. We opted for Margarita drink choices off the menu (see photos). The drinks were $12 each. I ordered a lemonade. $5. You’re given a number that corresponds with one of the tables/booths to sit and wait for your food to be delivered. You’re also given a cup to get your own fountain drink. The numbers on the table are hanging from a hook. We watched other patrons swap their number for more desirable seating. I wished we had done that because our booth was right next to the open hallway, and every time the door opened, cold air would come in and we’d freeze! They were playing music way too loud. The food Our sides came out first. I was NOT impressed. The Brussel Sprouts were fried leaves. They literally peeled the leaves from the sprouts and fried them. I felt like I was eating wonderfully flavored paper! The Honey Sage flavor was delicious but way too oily. When the server came out with our burger and chicken, I complained that I had a bowl of leaves and she informed me that this is how they make the dish. It’s Brussel leaves. Their menu clearly says “leaves”- I failed to read it. Had they truly served the Brussel sprout- this dish would be a hit! My Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was awful. The bun was fabulous. The chicken breast was thin and tasted like it had been marinating in Franks Hot Sauce for days. It was fried beautifully. It also had some very delicious fresh pickles on it. Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is way better and a fraction of the price. Hubby’s burger looked super juicy. He ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. He said it was delicious. He loved his bun too. Although it was good, he said it was not worth the $12 price tag especially without any sides. Our fries weren’t anything special. Oh, I forgot to mention that they bring your sides in medium sized tin mixing bowls with two forks sticking in them. You and your other party are expected to eat out of the bowl together. They don’t give you a small plate to put the sides on. Once your burger arrives you can put some on that little tray. Highlight: The drinks were strong….almost too strong. Overall- Hopdoddy is way too pricey for lackluster burger and fries.

Attended their community day soft opening today. When we entered we received information about Hopdoddy, the company, and the ingredients that they use. We were allowed to each choose an entree of our choice and our group of three were able to also choose two shareable fries and a shake for the table. We chose the the Parmesan truffle fries , & the hand cut fries. Both came quickly, were large servings, and both were hot and delicious. For entrees we had the Classic burger, Double Bacon Jam, and the Ahi Tuna. Unfortunately the Classic & the Double Bacon Jam we're so salty they were inedible. The Ahi Tuna was also quite salty, but not to the same extreme. Hubby said the Ahi was very fresh and he enjoyed it, but the salt built up as he neared the end. Daughter and I can't comment on the quality of our burgers as we couldn't get past one bite. For the shake, we ordered an Oreo shake which was quite delicious. We also purchased an additional vanilla shake which my daughter didn't care for as she said it had a weird aftertaste. All the food came out pretty quickly especially as they were still in their training days, and it all was hot and looked good, but they need to work on the seasoning. I spoke with one of the staff people and it seems that we weren't the first to make similar comments about the salt. The restaurant itself was attractive and clean with plenty of seating, both booths and tables. There is a nice bar area and happy hour M-F from 3-6. The staff was working hard and training seems to be going well as orders were accurate, staff was happy and pleasant and everyone we spoke with said they enjoyed working at Hopdoddy. A few other little issues, they are a cashless restaurant, but they had no way to turn their touchscreens around for customers to add a tip or to sign the receipt. Maybe their system wasn't 100% up and running as this was a free event and I just happened to purchase something?? So far, staff is doing great, they need to get their seasoning on point.

My overall impression of this place was as follows: they were out of too many common ingredients, the food wasn’t spectacular, and the seating ended up being lumped too close to other people despite the restaurant being otherwise empty. Walking in, the place was very well decorated: it was a nice, warm environment. The place only had one big party seated when we arrived. When we started ordering, I asked for the Cadillac Wagyu burger but was told they were out of wagyu. I swapped to a normal cheeseburger with the same toppings. My husband got the Doddy Melt. We also got one mini milkshake each (strawberry, cookies and cream) and the truffle Parmesan fries. They told me after we sat down after ordering that they were… out of potatoes for the fries. I swapped out the fries for sweet potato fries. The milkshakes were too heavy on the cream, just not at all what I normally expect when drinking a milkshake. They were almost airy with the taste of cream. I almost wanted to take a big cup and water down my mini into a large milkshake. The burgers weren’t bad— the patties were cooked very well and the toppings on mine were super fresh. My husband said the taste on his doddy melt didn’t really stand out. The sweet potato fries were also okay, just not honestly what I wanted in the first place. The atmosphere was brought down by the fact that after ordering we were assigned a table number— as more patrons arrived, they were all sat in the same corner as us and the large party we saw coming in. By the end, this meant we were in a very loud corner while the rest of the restaurant stayed empty. I will say that the staff was kind and that the food came out relatively quickly. I probably wouldn’t go back, but it could be a good sit-down burger spot for those looking for a quick bite.

So I tired to go through the website to leave my concerns as not to put it on google. It’s been about 2 weeks no with no response other than a coupon to get free fries. Let me be clear, I’m not coming back.

They served my wife and I undercooked chicken on their chicken sandwich. Half the chicken was cooked, the other half I felt the rubber texture. I saw the translucent color. I had swallowed some of that chicken. When I brought it to the expo girls attention, she said she would grab a manager. Manager couldn’t be bothered to come visit the table, but sent the expo girl back. She claimed that there was a bad batch of chicken and they thought they didn’t have that issue anymore or it was fixed. So now I’m concerned. Are you guys selling undercooked chicken to others? I don’t think there was a bad batch, I believe you aren’t cooking it properly. There is a timing standard for frying chicken breast.

The burger we got was great. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to come off like the food was all terrible. Fries were good, burger was good. They did comp my sandwich, but I did also end up throwing it all up a couple of hours later.

I’m concerned that your staff is undercooking product. Worse than that, they are aware something is wrong and still continue to sell it. Your manager didn’t seem to care one way or the other, he had to be dragged out to the back to give us the comp. Barely talked, didn’t event want to look at us.

I get it, it’s embarrassing to sell this. Or maybe he truly doesn’t care. I’m not sure. However I find it amazing that I went though your corp site to express my experience and I got no acknowledgement. Free fries? Who cares about that.

I don’t want free stuff, I don’t want a refund. But actions, or lack there of, like this creates concern for other guests that want...
