My husband and I took a walk around our neighborhood today and decided to stop into Hemline. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. When we entered, we were not greeted, but shortly after, another family walked in and received a warm welcome. I brushed it off at first, but as we browsed, the pattern continued. The sales associate engaged with the other family, offering them a fitting room, while completely ignoring us- even as we stood in the same area.
It became clear that this was not an oversight but an intentional choice. Feeling unwelcome, we left. As people of color, we couldnât help but notice that the family who received attentive service did not look like us.

There was no greeting whatsoever upon entering the store even though multiple people were working. I took a look around and even went up to the front to look at some jewelry but still wasnât even given a glance or a very easy to say âhelloâ. Why canât people be kind? Cute little boutique my mom frequents often.
Service was good the person working wasnât overbearing but still helpful. đ she greeted us upon entering & assisted me with a dressing room when I had items in my hand.
I bought a cute pink romper, a little hand bag đ & a hat 𧢠my mom had several items as well. ONLY complaint was the larger sizes (size large) were sold out. Some items didnât have much stretch so a larger size was needed.
