First time attendee of this establishment. I’m glad I tried it out. I met up with some friends for a birthday dinner. This restaurant offers a mix of Asian cuisines, but in my opinion their sushi and Chinese are the best dishes on the menu. So here are the pros and cons of my experience. Pros: large dining rooms…front and back. Hospitality is great. I was greeted immediately, and asked if I was there for the party. As a large group of women giddy to celebrate, I appreciate the space for us to laugh and move about to take pictures without interruption or intrusions. The the restaurant and bathrooms are clean, and the outside is tidy and decorative. The food…I ordered the Bubba Gump roll without the cream cheese. I’m glad I chose this one. It was delicious! Also huge and filling. You can order this as your meal and be content. You are able to bring in an outside cake…they will allow you to use plastic ware for your own cakes. Cons: parking is tight. I mean really tight, so be prepared to search and walk. I found a small space between an ill parked car, and an suv (driver of the suv was parking and made enough room for me). There is parking in the back and I saw some people parking next door. Service was a little strange, as I wasn’t given a menu as I arrived. Instead I was asked to share with my neighbor, as she had already ordered. Then the waiter took my drink order and didn’t return until he delivered the hors d’oeuvres were served to the rest of the table. I had to order mine then…30 mins after arriving. Although reservations were made in advance it seemed like they weren’t prepared for a large party. It wasn’t horrible service, but he wasn’t as attentive as I’d like, especially when a 20% gratuity fee is automatically charged. No music playing. Being a large met group I noticed the tables around us paying attention to our conversations as we were spread out and thus had to speak louder to communicate. A little music overhead might have helped drown the sound of other’s conversations. The second dish I ordered was the Spicy Basil Chicken and aside from the chilli sauce there was very little flavor. While I enjoyed my sushi roll, I don’t think their Thai is as good as their sushi or Chinese. I ordered the shrimp fried rice to go and it was a hit with my family. Overall, I’d visit again and enjoy more sushi or rice at the bar.

I went on Mother's Day and had a great experience, ordered takeout tonight and had a completely opposite experience. The wings which were dripping in sauce on Sunday, had almost no sauce the second go round. The Phoenix Dragon meal had a tasteless gelatin-like substance towards the bottom of the bowl and uncooked vegetables, there was a single small hair on the fried noodles (which would've been overlooked had it not been for the rest of the food that was incredibly underwhelming). Even my wife said that her chicken fried rice was overcooked. I almost never complain about my food order, especially when it's take-out, but I just ordered the same exact meal 2 nights ago and it was a night and day experience. I called to express my concerns to the manager, was put on hold and hung up on. I called back and was told that the manager was in a meeting and was asked to address my concerns with the assistant manager who was polite. His solution was a $20 credit for the food, and admitted that the chef didn't prepare the sauce for the wings correctly. After I explained why his solution wouldn't be feasible ( I spent $56 on this order and none of it was right other than the egg drop soup) the manager was suddenly available to discuss the problem. Not only was he rude (rushing me to finish statements, cutting me off in the middle of sentences, and seemingly making comments that would suggest that I was lying about the hair) he refused to rectify the situation other than offering the $20 credit that was previously offered, or that i drive o er 15 minutes back to the restaurant with all the food for them to "recook". Both options seemed to me like I'd be in a lose/lose scenario either time or money (or both when you consider gas prices these days) and I politely declined the offers and just said that I wouldn't spend my money with them anymore. My family JUST spent over $300 at this establishment (not including a generous tip), but the best they could do was a $20 credit. If you value respect and basic human decency I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Your experience may be good one day, and totally problematic the next day. Or 2 days later in my case.

This is a review of the Sushi-Chinese part of the restaurant and not the hibachi. We came here because another restaurant closed an hour early and hibachi was a 45-60min wait. So it was not a planned visit. We ordered a sashimi appetizer, a regular sushi set, tonkatau dinner set which comes with 4 pieces of nigiri and 4 pieces of California roll along with salad and a miso soup. We also ordered Chinese vegetable dish. As for the drink, we just ordered green tea and a ramune soda. Before I go into all the issues, let me mention 1 thing that was ok. Of all the food, Chinese dish was only decent food that was not unpleasant to eat. Now the issues. 1). Instead of green tea, they brought Chinese brown tea. I don't mind the Chinese tea, but we should have been told about it. 2) instead of Ramune, they brought a lemonade. Waitress obviously did not understand what I said. 3) miso soup was super salty. We had to dilute it with 50% with the tea. 4). Sushi was one of the worst I've ever had. Rice had no flavors and they squeezed both the nigiri and maki so hard that they were chewy and hard to bite. Neta or fish meat was definitely not fresh. Matter of fact, I could not recognize one slice of orange colored meat. 4) tonkatau meat was thin, and they drizzled the steak sauce already on it, making the outer crust soggy. After I complained about these issues to our waitress, no one came to apologize or ask for additional details. After spending $150, I expected something better than supermarket pre-made food, but I've had better sushi from local Publix. Obviously other patrons who gave better ratings clearly never had any decent sushi in their lives unfortunately. We will never visit this place again.

When I moved to Atlanta in 2021 I stay at the Marriott Overlook just around the corner from Orient Express. At the time, this place served as one of the best Asian restaurants I have been to. As a person that has lived in the Far East for over 5 yrs and experienced cuisines as far as native Thailand, Japan and Korea my pallet is very sharp. I was really impressed and deemed Orient Express as my go for Chinese food in Atlanta. Well that was the case until today, after being a loyal customer for over 2 years that relationship has ended over a $12 meal. Having a family of 6 I know I have easily invested $1000s into that establishment over the past 2 and a half years. Seeing how I met my wife in Japan, the Asian culture is a big part of my family traditions. Its so important we make it a point to eat Asian food on Fridays at least twice month. Well fast forward until today, we dont normally do lunch at OE (Orient Express) but my wife was feeling down and I wanted to cheer her up. Why not our favorite spot eh? We ordered 4 meals, beef and broccoli and sweet and sour chicken, two of each to be exact. Now in baseball, 3 out 4 makes you and all star, unfortunately in the restaurant business you have to bat a thousand. Meal 4 was a sweet and sour dish, I picked this up at 1pm today, stored in the fridge for a snack for later. Upon reheat this dish my entire middle floor of my home reeked. I mean the plate, the cutting board, the utensils you name it. It was so bad, I bagged it as put in the garage. Fortunately I understand things happen, so I called OE and informed them about the situation. After being place hold, and explaining what happened I was told there was nothing they could do. Now I've order $100 to $150 takeout at the place and stored it over night and reheated it just fine. So I know their product pretty well given its been over 2.5 years. Honestly, I was appalled by it all and asked him if $12 was worth losing a long time customer over. From his tone, he made it as if I made an error, no my friend the only error made was giving you my hard earn money. Word to the wise, you might want to proceed with caution going forward, and assume the discounted lunch is about as risky as the managers special in the meat section. This was really disappointing, because Im the type of person that likes to build relationships with the places I frequent. I mean I was the guy that tipped on take out orders just to show my appreciation, but after tonight no thank you ma'am. Like I told the manager, I will never be a customer again; if you don't value my business to replace a $12 meal that you messed up. Sorry I can't respect you as a business and I definitely can't trust you. Also I appreciate the lack of an apology over this, keep focusing on the money not the service and I promise you that place will dwindle like a dying rose. BTW there's no grudge, just letting my follow atliens know who they are dealing with when they think about going to orient...

I hate to give this place a bad review, but let me start by saying the 3 stars was reaching for me. I am a huge lover of teppenyaki or hibachi steak houses. So, on August 23, 2024, my daughter brought me here for my favorite type of food. As we pulled in to park the parking lot was full. Normally, it's not a problem. As restaurants go, busy hours are expected with busy service and little to no parking. So my review had nothing bad to say about that. I will say the parking lot was so badly laid out that there was an employee in the parking lot helping cars drive thru the very narrow areas to avoid hitting any cars. So not only was it extremely full, it had dangerously small driving paths. Enough said. We had no reservations, so a 15-minute wait for a party of 7 was nothing. I'm extremely glad we didn't have a long wait. The night was going great. The place was busy, but they had great coverage. We were seated at our table, and the fun had just begun. They waited on us very quickly. The service started out great. Now you see that we are sitting at a table we have ordered our food our chef came out and that's where everything went wrong. Starting with someone told the chef it was my birthday, he responded with a sarcastic happy birthday. No problem. I am very shy about these things as well. While he was making one of our parties filet mignon they asked him if he could cut the pieces smaller because it's hard for her to eat large pieces of meat and they don't give you knives to cut your own. He sarcastically (a not even in a playful or fun way) said, "Why are you a child? She responded yes to lightening the mood. So he serves us our food. 5 of us ordered the filet mignon at medium rare, and the 2 kids ordered steak at mediym rare. We were given over seasoned and over cooked tough meat. Not tender in any way, shape, or form. Next came my lobster tail. Again, over seasoned and over cooked, which kind of ruined the whole thing as well. The chef was rude and never really talked to any of us. The food was overcooked and extremely salty. However, 3 of our party ordered scallops, not the lobster. They were raving at how good the scallops were. Sorry I didn't try them. I know that these type of resturants prices are about $45-$75 a plate. But I have never had to pay those prices for tough over cooked filet mignon and lobster. The staff is in t-shirts so it's not an upscale which wad not an issue with me. If the filet would of been tender and the chef not rude and unpersonable I would of had no problems. But the fact of the matter is, it was not, we were all really disappointed. I don't think I would go back. This area has a lot of these type of resturants. In this day and age it was expensive for mediocre food. Sorry Orient Express I had high...

Absolutely horrible experience!!!! This place doesn't even deserve 1 Star! I read all of the reviews before coming in and my family and I were so excited to go because of the train and decor, but the Manager was disrespectful and rude to my family and I. We gave $100 to book our table of 14 people and the least we could ask for is good customer service and time to actually eat our food.

Our Terrible Dining Experience -Within 45 mins they started bringing out checks (This was a party of 14 people). Can we enjoy our food? -The $100 deposit could not go towards our meal, so I had to pay for my dinner, then get refunded my $100 within some business days after we were rushed to eat our food. -I rushed to finish my soup because they didn't give us enough time to drink it and came around asking if we were done with it (we clearly weren't). -The Manger asked if we would move to another sitting area without hibachi to finish our dinner after an hour (The chef finished cooking 45 mins after our 4:30pm reservation). -We had to rush to sing happy birthday and open gifts because he said he had another reservation. If you have another reservation book it so your customer have enough time to eat their food, especially if hibachi's are known for large groups. 45 mins is not enough time, to wait for 14 people to order drinks, each their soups and salads, wait for their food to be cooked, eat their food and cut cake. -He asked 3 times for us to move to another area and when we said no he asked my Fiance (the birthday boy) if he is going to pay an additional deposit to stay longer because he had another reservation coming. Very rude because it was my treat. -They put clean plates with a reserved sign for the next reservation on our hibachi grill in front of us as a way to tell us to hurry up because they were ready to seat other guests (it still had only been 1 hour since we sat down). -They cooked other customer to go orders while cooking our food on our grill. -They did not ask us if we wanted refills at all and just took away our drinks while we were still sitting down. We were not looking because we were singing happy birthday. -The manager stood next to our table majority of the time like he was waiting for us to be done. -I ordered 2 meals (the chicken hibachi and the chicken & shrimp hibachi), a sweet tea and paid over $86 for 2 meals (They included $13 for Gratuity). The food is over priced. Everyone in our party said they would never ever come here again.

I have never created a yelp account until today. That's how strongly I felt about this dining experience and how my family and I were treated by this manager and some...
