After over 6 months, Mark's amended return came back riddled with errors and was rejected by the IRS which has put me in jeopardy of appealing to tax court. I am now in a position where I need to hire another tax professional to resolve my IRS issue and AUDIT Mark's amended return. I've lost complete confidence in Mark's ability to resolve my issue who has failed numerous times to complete the proper due diligence and has avoided providing any explanation. On a call with the IRS, Mark fumbled to justify what he put on my tax forms. Afterward, he blamed the inaccuracies on his tax software (Taxslayer). Worst of all, he pushed a revised return that misreported my IRA distribution (verified by my current tax preparer) to which he stated he was "100% confident" it was correct. I felt extremely uncomfortable as a client having to research tax forms and provide explanation as to why the amounts needed to be changed. Attempting to save face, I received multiple revised versions which he called "alternative" or equivalent filings that were materially different; one stating a $3K refund and one stating a $1K refund. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN ALTERNATIVE FILING - ONLY CORRECT AND INCORRECT. Still, these revisions input the wrong cost basis to my distributions which could easily be verified on my forms. This lack of attention to detail was the last straw, I simply could not risk putting forth another failed return. Receiving a letter from the IRS was one of the most stressful situations of my life and I sincerely regret trusting Mark who over sold his abilities, rushed to patch-up old mistakes and pushed upon me sloppy work intended to brush me away, leaving me to rehire and repeat this entire process elsewhere. My wife and I got an extension for 2020 taxes since our accountant split to Hawaii.. 2 days prior to the deadline we put out a message needing a tax preparer, yes procrastinating.. Mark was one of a few that answered, asked us a few questions sent us an email with list of items he would need very professional.. I looked at his accomplishments & reviews and decided on him. He was right out front with the costs which were reasonable. We are in Cali and Mike Georgia we text back and forth a few times and talked on the few as well. I was impressed with his demeanor it was very calming .. Mark is the type of person you feel is very trustworthy, and that’s hard to find during these times. Anyway he completed our taxes at 0130 in the morning and sent us an email to review and let him know if there were any issues. Mark did an excellent job on our return especially for the last minute..
