Even though we’ve had to roll with the punches and adapt to new shopping patterns, the mall still shines like a diamond, staying spick and span while offering an abundance of stores and goodies. All in all, it’s a breath of fresh air to spot the hometown crowd at the malls once more, but some things are as constant as the sunrise.
I visited a big Macy's, and I still relish the human interaction and the delightful vibe of community. Moreover, I had the pleasure of being a customer long before I could peer over the Customer Service counter.
Well, I rolled into town to snag a few items, and I can't help but point out that one of the few remaining shops is still standing, though it feels like another bites the dust every week. So, there you are at the rack, pondering whether it's time to size up because, let's be honest, working from home now and then can sneak in a few extra pounds. It was quite the experience to touch these products and reassure myself that they’ll actually fit.
Alright, here we go, (fill in the blank), she just so happened to revel in the collection of clothes while she meticulously examined and re-evaluated each piece, barely a foot away. There is an impartial opinion to make sense of it all, and since, " may I help you was not brought up, she was merely doing her job, " I thought.
Ah, the classic case of objective reasoning at play! Since the phrase "can I help you" was conveniently overlooked, it seems she was merely fulfilling her duties, again, I though, as she waved her scanner on every item as I should have moved. However, after some time, it has become a bit monotonous, much like when certain employees casually stroll into the aisle you're scrolling through, seemingly intent on rearranging every item that was never out of place and/or insisting on a price check.
Yes, though some individuals may swipe items without a second thought for the cash register, it’s rather unlikely that every single person who strolls in fits a particular criminal mold. This is precisely why Temu and Shein and many others companies are capturing the hearts of the youth and raking in billions online, all while turning our communities into mere shadows of their former selves. Well, it seems we've not only become more divided on certain issues, but perhaps a bit lazy as well, with isolation becoming the new norm.
Absolutely not, I have no intention of heading to the local news to make any assertions. Looking forward to the next inbox sale every few hours online from Macy's. Sorry, maybe next time, after the price check, I'll pick up a few items.
One "star" down, but we've moved on.
Well, well! What's the deal with the mall security's random ID checks on these young people by the...
Read moreI have been a Macy’s customer for a very long time. Today I experienced the most offensive customer service I’ve ever received. I came into the store to purchase some Lancôme products. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes while Derrick, whom I assuming was the cosmetic floor manager, was having a casual conversation with another employee. As he continues to ignore me, another woman walked up to him and asked for some assistance to find a lip color. I watched him walk over to the counter in the Lancôme area and when he couldn’t find what she was looking for, he told her that he would send someone over. (Because he didn’t, she sought the assistance from the employee at the MAC counter as she too witnessed his disinterest to assist.) He walked back over to his colleague that he was having a previous conversation with and another customer and did not send anyone to assist her. Needless to say, I was becoming more angry because I was still standing there waiting for assistance. Ironically the colleague he was having a conversation with saw me and continued with her conversation. Thankfully another employee say me and assisted me with my purchase. I find this to be unacceptable as I should not have to look for someone to help, especially when the employees are engaged in their own personal conversations. I don’t think...
Read moreI love Macy's. I know these are tough times for all, especially when competition to order on line is so popular. But I enjoy the shopping experience. What L.L. Bean has that Macy's lacks is knowledgeable retail staff... Product professionals, not just cashiers. Trained staff don't need to be sales person's perse, but product informed sales associates produce better satisfied customer satisfaction and increases sales volumes so that everybody ends up happier. Also, considering the competition concrete stores are facing, once customers have selected items to buy it should not be necessary that they canvass the entire store searching for an associate to check their items out for them. When I spend my money in today's economy, feeling like my loyalty to a business is respected and appreciated means something to me. Let me add that I have had sales associates at Macy's who have demonstrated professional courtesy. What I have experienced repeatedly is cashier mentality and noticeably too few sales associates to serve customers once they have selected items to buy on their own. But...I remain a loyal Macy's customer. I'd like the company powers that be to demonstrate their respect and pride in Macy's and treat it like the company of...
