Super One Foods — Local services in Virginia

Super One is one of those must have places. Like all good grocery stores this one is strictly food so your not off buying items like a new tv, or movie, or new clothes….nope this place is good. Super One often has great prices on produce, meat, and dairy. The wife and I love making salads and have growing kids who live off of cereal and milk, so those deals on milk our always good haha the service from the people who work here are great, they smile, they get to know you, and soon you can call them out by name when you see them. I believe my only complaint about this store like many others, they are forcing people to go to self check out because 1. They are too short handed, or 2. They are eliminating check out by their own staff, which in my opinion is wrong. The industries that are eliminating jobs from people so that people will check themselves may be the way of the future, but I enjoy the interaction between the staff and customers. It makes me come back to shop there. Other then that, Super One is a good place to shop, it’s nice to know where most things are from being a frequent shopper, but if I didn’t I know I can rely on the staff to help me find anything in the store. The ambiance is clean, always busy, and good deals are all around! Can’t wait go back which I’m sure will be soon! Northside might be closer for some, but i prefer the extra choice, and the on-site meat dept seems to put out better stuff here.

Super One overall is really hit or miss, every location of theirs I've ever been to. It would really be great if we had more options in the region - we were very happy when Aldi opened up.

Most recent disaster was us deciding to pick up "fresh fruit cobbler" from the bakery. "Better when warmed!" should have been hint enough for what we were in for.

Upon trying, something is very off, and not just the lack of seasoning (complete lack of cinnamon?). Maybe it's just because we tried it at room temperature, we'll heat it up.

Somehow it's not better and the texture of the fruit is even worse? Picking it apart, every single one of these cherries are translucent.

Translucent?

This isn't pie filling, this is the candied fruit that they use in the fruit pies that come around at Christmas... You know, the ones that everyone ABSOLUTELY LOVES? 🤢

Super One foods impressed my 7 year old grandson who had been to Target and Walmart, so that speaks volumes for their appearance! Produce and meat department are spot on, and the prices are getting better! The bakery IMO needs a little upgrade. Perhaps they could up production a little more so the bakery counter would still have a selection after 5pm? They could always donate day old to the Salvation Army, or Food shelf's? Good for the tax write offs at the end of the year as well, win, win! The self checkouts don't accept cash, that's a Detourant for those who are just in and out? The front end of the store staff could probably use a "spirit lift"? Individual Appreciation of employees makes happy employees, which in turn makes happy customers!
