ALDI — Local services in Visalia

First important tip- bring a literal quarter (25¢). You use it to get a grocery cart and will get it back when you return the cart (one way they keep prices low!). ALDI has great prices, a variety of selection and is small enough to get through your shopping in 20 min, while still checking everything on your list. The prices are low because they do not carry many name brands (a few, like La Croix and Gerber Puffs). For example, they have their cereal/ bread line “Millville,” that’s essentially cheerios, Frosted Flakes etc. Similarly, many Aldi brands have almost exact matching nutrition labels to the name brand (see pictures for side by side of Dave’s killer Bread vs Aldi brand and Kodiak Protein Pancake Mix vs Aldi brand). In both cases, products are $2-$3 cheaper than what I buy at Target- which is a lot of savings over time. An interesting and fairly priced cheese selection, along with unique finds like gluten free baking mixes, and an aisle I call “things you didn’t know you needed” including home decor and more! I shopped at Aldi often in my previous home and my only caution is that produce tended to be super fresh when you get it but not last super long. Overall, a clean store and staff was friendly. We’ve waited a long time to get an Aldi in Visalia. I was excited to go in for the first time since it opened. The excitement was short lived.

After ignoring the trash-filled parking lot (no exaggeration), I soon found a store with ravaged shelves. Literally, not a single loaf of plain white or wheat bread. A least a dozen empty bread trays stacked up. Produce was thin. Deli/cold cases had gaping wholes in several sections with absolutely no product. Other sections were picked over leaving next to nothing to choose from. The non-grocery section (slippers, home goods, etc) was nearly completely empty.

I did not see any management members, greeters or utility staff as would be expected in new stores.

Prices are decent, comparatively speaking.

Other ALDI’s I’ve shopped were not in this condition. Doubt I’ll go back anytime...

Great selection of meats, vegetables, cheeses, dairy products, everything is reasonably priced or very cheap. just be careful it’s brand new you got a lot of inconsiderate people running into you with carts hanging out in the isles talking about the personal lives not shopping Visalia don’t know how to drive or shop. Then you have the cart return there is no cart return in the parking lot you have to go into the store to return your cart and you have to go inside the store to get a cart bring $.25 with you a quarter the cart requires a $.25. if you see a worker, stocking shelves, or just working stay at their way!!!!
