I started shopping at CT Goodwill's all over the state since the pandemic hit. Paintings used to be my favorite section to check out. It seems like ever since I started buying paintings here and there from several Goodwill's and noticed a couple other repeat customers doing the same, Goodwill hiked it's prices up on artwork and to top it off, it seems they are pricing based on the size of the painting. This is ludicrous for one bc size does not all denote a higher value when it comes to artwork- especially if the artwork is already pretty worthless. Also, Goodwill's ALL over CT started hiking up their price on art. Most of their paintings and prints used to be about 5.99 to 12.99. Now, they're 15.99 to 19.99. Goodwill's collude with each other on price hikes... some of these locations NEVER, EVER even have artwork of any value (I'm talking even just 20$) yet still want 20$+ for a medium to large painting. I'm just curious how Goodwill arrived at the decision to up the price- it doesn't seem to be doing them any good, as I and other customers are simply buying and shopping less. It's true, some paintings can be worth some money but basically, almost EVERY single time I take a painting home I'm taking a chance that it might not be what I thought it was or may just turn out to be a valuable lesson on artwork and art history and now others and I are taking less of those chances bc Goodwill is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a customer at this Goodwill for many years and have never had an issue until this last Saturday. While I was checking out I had a dress that did have the hang tag on it, but the sticker price tag was removed. I showed it to the cashier so that they could get a price check on it. They brought it to the back room to get a price on it. The cashier came back to tell me the price and it was way overpriced so I said I didn't want it.
She (Paige) then accused me of removing the sticker price and told me I could give her the part of the tag I removed - since she saw me do it!!! I was shocked and appalled at her accusations. I go thrifting as a hobby that I love and have no need to steal from Goodwill!
I am a professional woman in my fifties and have never been treated with such disrespect.
I will be writing to their Corporate office and will not be shopping there again! Very disappointed and I feel this cashier should be removed from dealing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis Goodwill is very organized and you can find some great treasures here. However, the prices are very high on many clothing items and handbags in comparison to other local Goodwill stores. For example, I love a boutique clothing brand called Lularoe, this store gets quite a bit of this brand but they price the clothing anywhere from 10.99 to 12.99 for a shirt. If you go to Hamdenās goodwill or Cheshireās Goodwill you will find this same brand priced as 4.99 to 6.99. When I come to a THRIFT store I expect extremely good deals. I can go to the consignment shop and find my Lularoe brand much lower and the clothing is in better condition. This is why I have completely stopped shopping at this Goodwill. Many of the staff members are not friendly. Itās just a shame that this very capable and large store has become such a unpleasant...
