I visit the Wallingford store about three times per week. This store features a brilliant setup. The pets are all along the outer perimeter and are attractively displayed. The inner portion of the store is chock full of supplies that are located adjacent to the relevent animals. Even though the store is large everything seems to flow. The prices are reasonable as they are but for a $40.00 membership I have saved at least $200.00 in the past 12 months!
There is a respectable selection of reptiles. They are attractively displayed and seem to get constant attention by responsible staff. I have not found anyone to be rude, neglectful, or incompetent. Shelby, Melanie, Randy, Joe, and Sam tend to the reptiles, birds and small animals. They are very approachable and knowledgeable. I got my Bearded Dragon, "Spike" here. He is very healthy and alot of fun.
The hand raised birds they have are amazing! The store's staff take pride in these birds by having them on open perches and keeping them fed, groomed, cleaned and socialized. The caged birds appear colorful and active.
Next is the puppies. I got my Akita, "Kima" here. The Jesses (both of them) and Devin are always very helpful and friendly. My experience with Kima has been excellent. She is a very healthy, loving, beautiful and playful 10 month old dog!
Next is the fish. This is another very respectable selection of beautiful animals appropriately cared for and housed for their size. Ed and a young lady and two young men have been very informative and courteous to my daughters and me on many occasions. We have a 75 gallon aquarium with cichlids that are thriving!
There are negative sides to any business and if one is so inclined he might find something. Live animals can get sick and things can go wrong no matter how responsible the staff and the customers are. The politics of selling puppies can lead people to the negatives. This is a pet store that sells puppies. I can understand completely the visceral reaction this stirs in some people when the Meriden Humane Society is so full of wonderful animals that need a home today. Always visit MHS first!
For personal reasons I chose to get my puppy from this store while adopting two needy cats from MHS. My daughter is a volunteer at MHS and I visit frequently. Kima was the right dog for me and she was at a pet store. I don't regret my decision because she is such a source of happiness in our lives!
I want to add that I have visited pet stores where I feel so driven to rescue an animal or two or more because they are kept in inappropriate conditions. I have not had that feeling at All Pets Club in Wallingford. The staff are what makes this store so effective. My daughters and I always enjoy this store and our interactions with...
Read moreI just want to take this time out of my busy schedule to share my experience at wit Greg Watsman at The All Pets Club in Wallingford, CT I purchased a Ball Python from Pets Smart which I was happy with until nearly 2 months went by and my snake wouldn't eat! I tried once a week like I was told to do, I went by the store twice to share my concerns and was told "it's normal for a snake not to eat, don't worry he's fine blah blah blah" 5 weeks went by and my baby snake still did not eat, And was pretty skinny. At this point I've grown so close to my snake and very stressed out and worried I was to the point I was going to call out of work and spend a lot of money to have him seen by a vet. I decided to go into All pets Club and see what they recommended and that's when I met Greg! I explained my concern with my snake not eating, and he made it his mission to figure out why he wasn't eating for me. He spent over 45 minutes with me explaining the PROPER lighting and heating my snake's tank, he didn't just tell me what I needed to buy he explained the 'why's' and 'why nots' the very next night and 24 hours of proper lighting and heating I saw a huge difference in my snakes behavior, movement, and color. I bright him into the store where Greg again was there to assist me, and take a look at my snake. He spent almost and hour and 45 minutes with me, again, educating me with sooo much information that no google or magazine or snake keeper I know has! He took the time to try to feed him frozen thawed and even live. My snake still wouldn't eat but he was entrigued so I knew we were getting somewhere. Greg told me to take him home, continue the proper lighting and heating for a full week and try again. By day 4 I was worrying a little bit so I said what the heck I'm gonna try again. I was beyond pleased with my experience he went above and beyond to try to help me, he was knowledgable, educated, patient with, I even handed him a tip and offered to buy him dinner and he wouldNt even take it from me! So, I did all that Greg told me to do and my snake FINALLY ate! Tonight I went into the store just to share my success, he remembered my name, my snakes name, and was just as happy as I was that my snake ate! He's truly passionate about his career! I would never ever take the time to write a review but my experience was just THAT damn good! I cannot tell you enough how happy and satisfied I am with my service! So please keep Greg around!!! He's the man!!! Thank...

Two days after purchasing our dog, we took him to the vet to be checked out. We found out he had two different infections, was badly dehydrated and had severe diarrhea. We spent almost $160 covering his meds and vet visit. The same day I contacted the store manager in the Southington where we made the purchase. The manager advised me to fax copies of the vets bill and a letter from the vet in order to begin processing a refund as required by state law. I did all that. A week later we went back to the vet and found out there was another issue with the dog. This cost us almost $200 including meds.
Approximately three weeks after submitting the original documents to the store for a refund, they had not return a phone call. I contacted them and was told they had no idea where the documents were. The store manager asked me to send them again via fax, so I did. Another week and a half went by before I had to call them again. This time the manager told me he had received a majority of the documents but was unsure as to what happen to the letter from the vet. Once again, I sent it to him. A week goes by and I hear nothing. After calling the manager informed me that he had received the document and had forwarded it to the owner of the store who was based in Wallingford. He advised me that I would be hearing from the owner within two weeks.
Three weeks goes by and I receive a letter from the owner with $9.50 store credit. ARE YOU KIDDING?! I have spent almost $400 on medication and vets visits and they send me a $9.50 credit?! We love our dog regardless of all the crap we have to be dealing with. However, we will NEVER make another purchase at any All Pets Club stores. By the way, our dog is still sick and the two different vets I've taken him to can't figure out whats wrong. I've got another appointment coming up and I'm sure it'll be just as costly as the first few.
If you want to avoid we've been dealing with since we purchased our new puppy from the place, GET YOUR PET ELSEWHERE. Maybe a private breeder. Not from...
