Did a online to pickup up order for a firearm on 8/27/25 1:59 pm. Got the notification that it was ready at 2:13 pm which was extremely fast. Get off work and I go up there, had to go through the normal identification with my driver's license and ccw permit. Also I had to show my payment method for verification I guess, and this where the issue comes in. The manager (Scott) said he couldn't continue the process because my debit card, and actual bank card didn't have "Jr." to match my IDs, so I had to manually cancel my order and order using a different card. News flash this is the only debit card I use for purchases. Cool, I walk out and go to the bank and get cash, go right back up to Academy to purchase the same firearm and starting over with the same process, which takes an unnecessary amount of time. However, this time, Scott wants to nitpick about my ccw permit because it had a small peal where the courthouse's information is (after he verified my IDs the first time I came up there); you literally can't if tell that it's pealed, you still can see all of the information of the courthouse. I don't know what his issue was, but I can tell you that I never plan on going to this location again! Yes, I still got my firearm but I'd rather drive the extra 30 minutes to the Macon location or just go to...
Read moreHad the worst experience at the gun counter here yesterday evening. Always had great experience in the store, first time at the gun section. And will be my last. I had the opportunity of having Bob and Bryan helping me at the counter, or should I say the complaining of having to help me. Took over and hour to do a simple pick up. When I got there Bob gave audible signs of frustration of having to help me, then he gets mad and snaps at a fellow young women employee that was just trying to ask a question. Which actually shocked me I wouldn’t have let that slide with me personally. The manger or the supervisor at the time was not the friendliest either. Had a face of anger the whole time. And didn’t say much. I was waiting for him to approve the purchase for 30 minutes. When he gets back he helps a guy who just got there before me which he knew I had been waiting. I think him and Bob were planning to hold me there the longest for some reason cause they had something against everyone that wasn’t a macho old man. Very discriminating if you ask me and I’ve never personally felt that in a store. Also Bob and Bryan were talking about fellow customers trying to purchase guns and that they would just turn them down based on views of others. Which is DISCRIMINATION!!!! Will take my next gun purchase to a...
Read moreThis is my first time shopping at this Academy location; I've been to several others over the years. Went to pick up some ammo, went to the checkout register that had no customers. They sent me to the front of the store, which had a line that circled out to the main walk-through. They said their own store policy says nothing other than firearms can be purchased at that register.....Every other Academy I have been to never had that policy. I asked two of the managers who were somewhat hiding out of sight while the 3 front registers were trying to handle the surplus of customers, they validated what the employee at the register that was completely empty said. We asked if they saw the line up front and if it would be helpful to the front employees and customers trying to purchase, if the one completely empty register could handle the overflow from the front. They said no, that register is only for firearms. Ammo, anything firearm-related accessories are not able to be purchased at that register. After an awkward pause, we left our ammo purchase behind and wished the front register employees a "Godspeed". I'll never go back to...
