When I tried to get in touch with a patient representative I was unable to reach someone. It's been months since this happened and it's still bothering me, so I want to post my experience here since it seems these reviews are read. I had an awful experience with an NP named Cha Kim. I came to urgent care for my son's thrush and for thrush in my breast which I had gone through multiple times before. The first thing she asked me about was how long I plan to continue breastfeeding my 17 month old "because it's hard". Her tone felt invasive and judgemental. Then, she asked me about mastitis symptoms and I told her that wasn't a concern. She looked at my breast and asked me what I thought thrush was in my mind. She said thrush is a term only used for oral infection and anywhere else is yeast, and she did not see yeast on my breasts. It was incredibly condescending. Then she brought up mastitis again and I reiterated to her that it was not a concern. I had also had mastitis twice previously and knew very well what to look for, but she clearly thought I didn't. She said she would not prescribe Fluconazole because to take it preventatively is "very very bad" and she "did not want me to suffer the side effects" stomach ache????? Possibly the most frustrating part of the experience was when she said that I could stop breastfeeding if I do contract it and use a topical temporarily. I told her that I was confused because I had been prescribed it each time before. She said she didn't want me to be confused but went on to just repeat herself. Then on the after visit summary, she prescribed Nystatin for my son and Fluconazole for me after saying she won't prescribe Fluconazole. Then she sent a random antibiotic to my pharmacy, I'm guessing because she was still thinking about the mastitis. I can't get over how insanely IRRESPONSIBLE doing this was.... Besides the terrible social skills of this person, they also are just prescribing random antibiotics because she's simply not paying attention, or thinks she knows better? It shouldn't be acceptable, she's paid too much for that. Speaking of pay, she never sent the Nystatin script, so I lost an entire day of work without pay, because I had to keep him home until he had the medicine he needed, in the meantime his mouth was hurting and so was my nipple. When I called about the Nystatin, she sent only the Fluconazole! I had to call again to get someone to get her to send the medicine my son needed. She took one look inside his mouth and knew he had thrush, so why could she not get it together and make that a priority!?! Give me the run around, sure, but not my baby. I do think it's important the unnecessary antibiotics prescribed to me are reported to whoever is her supervisor. If I had any idea how to do...
Read more(1) If youâre bringing yourself to the urgent care and have trouble walking. Be prepared to park far-away from the entrance because thereâs only signs for âpatient drop offâ. The side entrance parking lot taken by staff. There are more than enough disabled parking places, but one who is temporarily disabled will not have access. This and many other Wexner locations NEED valet parking signs that are large enough to see. As a person with a foot injury and limping should not have to put themselves in harms way to cross the parking lot and pass two crosswalks to gain entrance for urgent care. I walked 100 steps from the first parking space next to disabled parking. I limped inside to see a person sitting behind a valet desk. So frustrating!
(2) I was seen in urgent care by a NP. I was not done asking questions and she opened the door and stood in the door way with the door wide open. I asking legitimate questions. Then I when asking how they were going to care for my injury the NP said the specifics. Then the nurse came in and did a sloppy job and pressed unnecessarily hard on my injury without gauze. When I got out to my car it was bleeding because of the pressure and negligence. The way my broken bone was positioned, it hurt worse than it did prior as it was taped in an unnatural position for my extremitiesânot a common position.
(3) I had legal questions and after care questions for the NP while the nurse was wreaking havoc on my body. Then a random male nurse bursts into the room asking for supplies from the nurse who was attempting to wrap my broken bone.
(4) Patient relations complaint line is an absolute joke. They kept talking over me while I was trying to answer their basic questions. Then repeating my answers with wrong numbers and spellings. I did not complete the call with them as I said, âI will call back another time to speak with a professionalâ.
(5) I could hear everything between a doctor, nurse, and patient through the walls. I know who he was because we both were talking in the waiting room. Now I know way more than I should as a patient.
From the time I entered the building to the time I left, every person I encountered was inexperienced and yet proud to work for OSU. Note to any staff, that Block O should not speak for you. It does not represent youâŚyou represent itâŚrespect it and patients. No one is entitled to work for OSU.
Word to the wise: This is a one party consent state. Record every single interaction with the medical system. Know the medical and nursing board phone numbers and do not give the medical staff an excuse to treat you with nothing less than respect and dignityâitâs your basic...
Read moreI had the worst experience EVER, at OSU outpatient clinic. Please look for another place if you want someone that cares or is competent. Went to EENT at OSU for getting rid of wax in my ears. Iâm healthy, no medications or any health issues. The PA informs me they donât use the water to take out the ear wax anymore, per the departmentâs policy, and sheâll be using a microscope to see the wax and pull it out using a suction device. She put in an ear speculum and proceeded to do that. The speculum she kept pushing in my ear, so that she could âseeâ the wax was so painful that it brought tears to my eyes. And the suction device was awful-it was stuck inside my ear and as loud as a jet next to my eardrum. When Iâd pull away cause of the pain I was told to ânot moveâ!! when she couldnât get the wax out w the suction device, she proceeded to scrape it out w another instrument that hurt like the dickens! What the actual heck?!? She put in ear drops before starting w the left ear cause the wax was dry, and immediately started suctioning it. She kept working on the left ear for twenty minutes, in spite of my tears, saying â Iâm gonna get this suckerâ. Then she moves to my right ear and tells me itâs dry and she needs to put in the drops here as well. Wouldnât common sense dictate putting the drops in both ears at the sane time? So at least one side ear wax has time to soften? I finally told her to just let the right ear be, and I didnât need the left one finished either! Walked out of there crying. Iâve gotten ear wax removed before at OSU, using a water pik, never had any issues where I felt like I wasnât listened to.
This is my third bad experience with OSU in the last two years, which is why Iâm incredibly frustrated. Each time Iâve chalked it up to the individual PA or the physician. But what I have been noticing w OSU is that they r becoming more and more clinical without even trying to have any empathy for the patient. I, myself am in the medical field, and am horrified at the way I was treated. My feelings were never taken into account, neither was my tolerance level to the pain being inflicted on me. Just an FYI, OSU-when ur patient starts pulling away physically or crying-immediately stop what you r doing and address the patient!!! This is pretty basic-...
