Great location, building has improved in the last year. I’ve lived here over 4 years (and just moved to a new apartment within the building in fall 2020). There are some rodent issues, to the point that I literally adopted a cat 8 months into my time here to deal with the mice. (There was a period in 2019 where there were rats, but that’s been resolved.) It is an older building and there have been issues (AC out for weeks in summer 2017, it’s been replaced; work on the water systems, etc.) The building manager, Mike, has been with the building for about 3 years and has been working to improve things. COVID-19 protocols: most of the staff are pretty good about wearing masks properly, but not all of them, which is disappointing and frustrating....
Read moreTotally agree with Jennifer's review. I endured Carriage House for 5 years, because of cheap rent, but a great location. My condo owner paid for no repairs (ie oven didn't work for 3 years, bathroom flooded many times, from pipes upstairs, roaches, vermin etc), was just in it for the money, kind of a slum landlord. Summers 2016 + 2017, building air conditioning broke; almost not able to endure heat. Summer 2018, pipe burst, flooding my living room + I finally moved out. Landlord recentlyrecen apartment; I feel bad for new owner. Front desk staff are all related +, as Jennifer said, only one was nice. The experience was grim. With new + better management + whole new concierge staff, Carriage House...

We had our student here for senior year (about 10 minutes to GWU) and always found the common areas to be immaculate - it seemed like someone was always cleaning, vacuuming, or polishing something! A staff member is at the front desk 24/7. Our student had no pest issues with bugs or rodents at all in the time he was there. The pool is lovely and the rooftop deck with a bbq is a nice place to gather at the end of the day. My student only had to submit a fix request once and the building responded quickly. Laundry on-site in the basement....
