I have known Magdalena for over 10 yrs. I began taking several classes from her in Studio in NYC, in which I advanced from ABSOLUTE Beginner to entering her most advanced class (Intermediate Flamenco) in about a year. I moved across country, and we kept in touch even attempting some distance learning via google hangouts (long before zoom and live streaming existed) until the day online classes were made available a few yrs later via zoom. I have been with her as a distance student ever since.

Why stay so long? Because not only is Magdalena an excellent instructor, creative educator, and beautiful dancer, SHE is delightful! She is truly passionate about YOU to her core! And you can FEEL her exuberant enthusiasm to see you succeed!

As an instructor, she is patient, encouraging, FUN, and doesn't stop until she feels you "get it." As an educator, she is CONSTANTLY exposing her students to new flamenco terminology, workshops, guest instructors, and performance opportunities to give you the fullest and richest experience possible. As a dancer, she is mesmerizing and inspiring! And as a PERSON, her kind/encouraging enthusiasm for flamenco is infectious, and her joy in being with you while teaching you the art brings you back again and again.

She stretches you-never lets you fail, and when things are "not quite there yet," you never feel defeated because there's no pressure to be perfect, just an invitation to be PASSIONATE. I can’t recommend Magdalena and Dance Flamenco DC enough! Especially as a beginner!! I moved to DC and wanted to learn flamenco so signed up for beginners Tangos class and was welcomed in right away! She makes sure her students are taught with respect to our experience and invites us to dive deep into the art by providing extra lessons and opportunities to grow in flamenco. I’ve been dancing with her for almost two years now and she continues to maintain the fun and professionalism of flamenco while encouraging us to go outside our comfort zones with different types of flamenco. Magdalena is awesome in bringing in outside artists and hosting variety workshops for us! She is especially inclusive as her dancers range in backgrounds and she creates an atmosphere of community and celebration that can be hard to find. Magdalena has an incredible adult and children’s program and it is always so much fun performing with the entire studio!
