Went here with the family for dinner. The food was just average. Chicken kabob was good but their beef kabob (Barg) not good at all. Rice was too oily. Garlic yogurt nothing like what it should taste like. Food was over-priced. You can eat in a real restaurant with what you pay here. Service was just not good. I ordered food for a family of four and got asked to insert my credit card. I paid 15% tip. Then I only got a receipt for the total and tip/tax, not an itemized receipt to look over what I was charged for the food. The prices of what I ordered (with tax and tip) didn't add up to what I paid. I didn't want to make a big deal with my family there and just did not ask about it. I bought two bottles of water to share. There was no cup available at the counter or next to their dispensing station. The guys didn't bother to offer cups. I had to go back and ask for cups. I got three different dishes to share (two came in plates and one came in a box). When they brought the food, they only gave us one extra plate! I had to cut the box in half to share the meal with another family member.
In food business, customer service is as or even more important than what you feed people. This place failed to understand this important business principle. Maybe not surprising that we only saw two other people there during dinner time. The place was almost vacant. In the end, we were very disappointed. We will never go back to this place nor do we recommend it. Much better to eat somewhere that care about their customers. And this comes from someone who almost never writes...
Read moreMaman Joon immediately caught us off-guard with possibly the warmest welcome and best service we’ve ever seen from a Persian Restaraunt.
Admittedly, with the luxury of an amazing (and cute to boot!) Persian chef at home, I’m picky with Persian. Nearly all of our visits to Persian Restaurants (even those known as the best in the US/Canada) result in exit conversations to the effect of “XYZ and ABC were fantastic, but you just can’t compete with home”. The conversations at/leaving Maman Joon were very different… #1 “There is an unbelievable amount of love in this food” #2 “Is it just me or is this some of the most tender kabob we’ve ever been served?” #3 “So fresh and well-prepared.” #4 “Seasoned a bit differently than I’m used to, but I like it” #5 “Best Restaraunt Salad Olivier I’ve ever had.” #6 “Oh my God, this Sholeh Zard tastes just like my Grandma’s”
Every Maman has their own tricks up their sleeves and this Maman—both from great service and massive care put into their food—will definitely be seeing us again so we can find out what else “she” has to offer.
Recommended meal (if you’re going for 3 courses): Shirazi Salad, Soltani, & Sholeh Zard. (but forward to going back to try their stews, Baghali Polo, & more).
Thanks for the great service and great food,...
Read moreI wanted to share feedback about a recent pickup order that was unfortunately quite frustrating.
When placing our order, it was difficult to communicate clearly. We ordered kebab and requested to substitute the rice with salad, specifically asking for a Mediterranean salad instead. We repeated the order about five times, but there was still a misunderstanding.
Instead of receiving the kebab with salad as a substitution, we were given kebab with a standard salad plus an extra Mediterranean salad—which we were then charged for. When I called to clarify, it was still a challenge to explain that we wanted the salad instead of rice, not as an extra side. Unfortunately, no refund was offered for the additional salad we did not want and ended up throwing away.
This was disappointing, especially since the miscommunication affected our enjoyment of the meal. I kindly recommend ensuring that someone with clear English communication skills is available to handle takeout orders, to avoid similar issues in the future.
Thank you for your...
